several things.. is it on the filter or VCA ? on the filter the precision of ADSR is very useful..control front/back of the sound plus length of the note the d conrols the lenth of the hit section r the fade S sustain/fade of the hit.. not useful if you are not bothered about the nuances of sound w...

Re: Which 960?

I have my dotcom 960 paired with 2x COTK trigger sequencers, a moon quad quantiser and quantiser controller. I also use it with a V gates which is good for random/individual stage addressing. I also have a STG switch which is great for sequential duties but maybe too esoteric for some. less discusse...

Re: Multi-Currency @ Lower West Side Studio

As you may know Lower West Side Studio is one of the only companies (if not the only) who bills in Canadian Dollars. IIRC Andrew Kilpatrick (Kilpatrick Audio) used to, but after the crowdfunding for the Phenol almost broke him due to the CAD dropping like a stone after the funding was in, he's now ...

Re: Roland MC-707 Groovebox

Bought one of those cables at the same time as the unit. Looking forward to trying it out. A bit of a bummer that that the model expansions aren't supported but the thing is hardly lacking in sounds and yeah the ability to make your own is pretty deep. On the fence with Zenology as desktop editing d...

Re: Your surprised-you-module(s)

SSL V gates is getting there for me as I realise I go to it in preference of other trigger sequencers/ clock dividers. I initially bought it with a view to adding the OctaVCA and A-R modules to it, but haven't got the space or inclination yet. I am not sure it 'surprised me' but its got that good ut...

Re: Hardware sequencers that'll import and save MIDI data.

And about the Roland 707 - reading the SOS mag. review it’s a bit of a mixed bag really. Good and bad. For the price I’d expected it to work better as a sampler with incoming signals / effects. Close but no cigar..? I don’t know the consensus, but I’m sure it’s very capable in spite of stiff compet...

Re: Hardware sequencers that'll import and save MIDI data.

I just got a Roland MC-707 and i noticed that in the 1.3 firmware, they added the ability to import MIDI files. the length of the midi file is maxed out at 128 measures (at 1/16). but it will import and playback any MIDI you throw at it as a single channel within a 8 channel system. probably not as ...

Re: New cable brand makes your modular sound FAT!

I used to have a digital subscription to audiophile magazine, as it was about $10 per year and I enjoyed the pictured of gear I can never afford. ( completely UNLIKE modular synths) it was fun reading the many reviews that used words with no empirical support. what was also good was a section where ...

Re: Hi-fi Gurus: Stylus/Cartridge upgrade for an old Rega in 2020

I have a Goldring 2100 cart on my Rega P3.

was about £150 and no complaints, Seems to be the cheapest of the expensive ones, so that's right where I want to be.

its totally subjective, so just buy one you feel is worth it, depending on how much you will listen to records and how much you can spend.

Re: Roland MC-707 Groovebox

I've bought a 707, should be coming soon. Not quite sure what hole it's going to fill as on paper it could lend itself a few ways, but the ability to take audio in and use it as a mixer appeals. So will likely use it as a kind of sketchpad, with the option to sequence some hardware and bring the har...

Faderfox has good controllers, they have an Ableton specific one called LV3, but many others can fit the bill.

good price and good after sales service.

Funny how I can't stand a touchscreen on a keyboard (quantum), but like it on a module (Iridium). I'm going to wait for the kinks to be worked out, but this looks lovely. I'm also going to hold off till we see a more mature firmware and see if MPE and other things are actually implemented well. The...

Re: ableton live output Din sync?

CV tools in Live 10 has clock out.

Have you tried that from an output into PAMs?

would be as tight as DINSYNC, till you get the full thing sorted.

iirc Pam only has run and clock input so you cant use the full DINSYNC implementation of reset and fill in you get from a 5 pin DIN.

Re: analog delay in MU?

So the question is, and this is one I have been asking myself about for the development of the delay in MU, should I use digital control over the delay time? The problem then comes to how well any digital oscillator will react to incremental and continual changes, particularly over a wide range. Mo...
