Re: Paia 2700/4700 regulated power solution
When I rebuilt my 2700/4700 system in 2014, I Frankensteined together a 9771 Regulated PS, dropped it to +/- 9V and then the K60 Regulated supply for the 18V line. Added a power switch, LEDS and a +/- 5V bias and it's worked great even since. Very clean sounding now. I used the Blacet PSCONN power d...

When I rebuilt my 4700 I redesigned the look of the front panels. For power I took 9771-15 FRAC power supply, dropped the voltages to +/-9 and then added the K60 Regulated Power Supply and got a 7824(?) VR to get the +18V regulated. I used the Blacet power distribution boards in the cabinets to avoi...

That's a lot of D/A converters you have there. I see only one keyboard. What all are they connected to? I also notice the old keyboard interface mounted in the cabinet. How is that being used? The PAiA ascetics has always been nice and efficient but I wish there was a "4700" panel upgrade for the "2...

That's the sad truth about this all. Euro really took off and left FRAC in the dust. Without customers there's no money to expand and grow the line. :bang: And with some major players in the market now, Euro is just gonna get bigger, while the modules get denser. So soon we will have a group of musi...

I never was crazy about the time base pot. I would prefer a long/med/short switch. I would like to see ala PAiA 4740 ADSR a fixed out along with a variable + out to go along with the variable inverted out. Trigger outs at the end of A, D & R is cool. But what I would really like to see is a FRAC qua...

I cheated and went this route:

Ten four-way 3.5mm multiples grouped into pairs. Each pair is normalized together, providing up to five seven-way multiples. Standard 1U 19-inch rack panel

Time to chime in! I have used the PAiA FRAC Racks with and without covers (I prefer without) as well as the original and RAK-2 Blacet Racks. I don't give a rats ass about "flimsy" or "sturdy." I have not had a problem with either and have owned about a dozen or so between the three. Maybe I'm just n...

I don't know the answer but you could run the CV out of the Kenton into an attenuator or mixer and start with a lower voltage into the VCF and VCA. I recall in the manual for the PAiA 09700 MIDI>CV Converter that recommend an attenuation network to scale the output CV for the pitch wheel output. In ...

The 10-turn pots really help the tuning resolution plus they still look vintage à la the EMS VCS3 synth. The PP-2 jacks are just passively connected. Damn...I didn't even think about buffering! BTW, the bottom 3 jacks are RCA jacks. Why RCA jacks, you ask? Why to connect the CV and Gate output from ...

It looks great! When I did my 2700/4700 refurbishing project I decided to go less "original" and more minimalistic with my front panel aesthetics. But I do like the Moog meets PAiA vibe on your ladder filter! I also decided to use all 3.5mm jacks to make it easier to interface with my other modular ...

They do offer just the PCB with components. The panels and jacks are separate. http://paia.com/p9700s.asp. If the pots are part of the panel I would suggest going with smaller ALPS brand pots. There are some normaled connections so I don't know if banana jacks will interfere with the operation or no...

I did some eyeballing measurements with a ruler and it looks like the outside diameter of the jacks, with washer, is 5/16". You maybe have another 1/32" or 1/16" before you hit the lettering. More importantly, it looks like there's just a 1/16" gap between most of the jacks, top to bottom. I'm not a...

I second Rob's suggestion. In fact there's a couple of mods for the VCF that extend the range of the filter's front knob somewhere here on Muff. I ran it by Scott and he thought it was fine.
