Re: Ensemble Oscillator from Matthias Puech & 4ms Company

Thought I'd contribute something for anybody curious to hear more from this amazing oscillator. BTW it does well with a little low-pass filtering

Re: Multiple Plaits system?

Could easily see it, especially for percussion. And there's a Photo Shop kind of problem regarding accessibility , if you don't maintain a working familiarity with the module by using it all the time, you'll easily forget all the modes and always have to refer to the help -so sure, go all in and get...

Re: Transposing sequences

I haven't had much luck with diatonic quantization. Usually quantizing delivers 'a note within a set of acceptable notes' based on proximity - that way nothing particularly 'clangs.' Haven't yet found a 'smart' scenario where the quantizer translate each degree of the scale e.g. the 3rd degree of th...

Re: Need sequencer suggestions!

I'm in agreement with the above. I also got a USTA and it's extremely powerful, but I wouldn't recommend it for a newbie. You could probably get a used Rene 1 for an absolute steal and you'd have loads of fun with it without getting frustrated - in fact, I like it's accessibility and ease of use pro...

re: Clone pattern: Just in case I'm not the only one getting confused - it'd be great if the OLED somehow acknowledged that the clone of a pattern had taken place (unless I'm just doing it wrong) - after clicking the clone destination nothing really happens - maybe the destination could blink or zer...

Re: Frap Tools USTA

4. How would I set my root to C2 so all voltages offsets start from there ? Would setting al the encoders to C2 (via set all + rotating first encoder) do the trick? I actually also did this and then saved the project so I have a template that I can quickly recall. I'm no EE or sequencer designer bu...

Re: Frap Tools USTA

Tuning question - So I'm hoping I can set the root (absolute zero) to something like C2 or C3 which is closer to my working range of notes, to prevent math/tuning errors. If I set my E370 to C0 (Korg tuner won't even go that low) and then dial in a value of C4 on an encoder my note will be about 20 ...

Re: Frap Tools USTA

USTA newbie here - mine arrived last week from Perfect Circuit (great service BTW!) Been reading the manual but still some beginner questions: 1. How do I check the version # of the firmware? 2. Entered a sequence of patterns in song mode, just 1 simple track, & that all works - but reset button alw...

Re: Quad oscillators for use with quad quantizers?

Synthesis Technology's E370 Quad Morphing VCO ($$$! also gigantic!) It's excellent though, and 13.5 HP or $250 per oscillator is not unreasonable for something that high quality. I personally never used it polyphonically; I used it in stereo, or used one or two voices to modulate another, also used...

Re: A-185-2 Precision Adder Thread

Seconding the vote for the 'T43' - just a great, accurate module. That being said, the A-185-2 attenuator can be used for very expressive, immediate pitch gestures - smoothly falling away or rising up - which can be musically useful and fun to jam with.

Re: My first modular

You might seriously consider adding a Mordax Data or a Jones O'Tool2 - especially if you're just starting, it's hard to overstate the value that a scope has in learning about CV and trouble shooting patches. The Mordax also includes extra utilities which might also prove useful.

Re: Synthesis Technology E330 users thoughts?

Thanks Razzkazz ! There's no doubt that the E352 presents a deeper feature set than the E330, which is essentially a "sampler" of three sound engines found in its more expensive siblings. At that price point the E330 offers two advantages - less anxiety in a live performance re:beer spills and poten...

Re: Synthesis Technology E330 users thoughts?

Great module - cheap as chips, great sounds and like of all Paul's stuff, built for battle. IIRC John Rice bought 3 or 4 of 'em instead of going for the whole E370 gig. I made a demo some time ago - multi-tracked, 100% E330 sounds - this little box can do a LOT https://soundcloud.com/fastus/dream-wi...

Tis an amazing oscillator - just comparing the sine on the similarly saw-core Z3000, my work horse until now, to the E300 - maybe now we can skip the whole east coast-west coast thing. Temperature stability is excellent - don't need to warm it up - ready to work! A first jab at some FM sound here: h...

Thanks. I will look deeper into the Qu-bit and Intellijel modules. Do you think that the sequencers and modulation modules I have or intend to buy are suitable enough? You might get more mileage from a used Rene mk1, really cheap used because of the newer mkii release - Rene can generate cv (quanti...

Hard to see the appeal of the Drone Bank - any good full featured oscillator should be able to generate good drones with good harmonics gen'd via FM, sync, AM etc. Maybe it seems like cheap polphony but looking at the manual, it seems like you can build a chord/interval etc but not transpose it. For...

I use a Korg orchestral tuner about $60. BTW quantizers tend to add at least a little bit of offset to the pitch, so if you want perfect tuning (& thus perfect consonance in your chords) you should tune or retune your oscillators after you patch 'em up to the Addac, being sure that the quantizer is ...
