I've had all AS chips in my OB-8 (3310s, 3320s, 3340s, 3360s) and it's been working great. Most voices didn't even need a re-tuning.

It is not. Each model has its own set of SNs (SH3/3A is considered as one model).

No not that rare. Service manual states the 3A started with SN xx0800 so given that they started the SH-3 with 0100 as they usually did that's 700 of them.

I was one of the Europa beta testers and reported this bug over 10 years ago. How much are you expecting for customs? In my experience stuff like IC chips usually come into the US without any duty or customs fee and on the rare occasion they do it's 15% or less.
