It's about five months from 2018 and my main instrument is a Nord Modular Keys (using Wine on the latest macOS). Everything works perfectly. Seriously, it just works, no issues. It's the most innovative and comprehensive modular system that I've ever used. And that's no knock against the Serge Modul...

The Gator is indeed fun. Get one, and make it play nice with the TKB. And since you're very short on mixers, a Dual Q would help with that.

What made me choose 4U over all of the other formats? What a thoughtful question. I'm so glad you asked.

I'm running macOS Sierra and got the Win NM editor running via wine. Everything works great. Wow, I'm truly amazed, as in bedazzled. :hail:

Has anyone running macOS Sierra gotten the Win NM G2 editor running via wine?

I just returned from the Peter B. workshop being held at Noisebridge in San Francisco. It was rad.

I'd never soldered anything in my life, but with a little bit of help from the awesome people in attendance, I was able to bicycle home with a lovely Karper Tocante.

... Downside of Evolver and Blofeld is you basically need a keyboard or external sequencer to make them useful for bed/couch wiggling. And Evolver does not have headphone output. I like the Evolver's sound, but I've been neglecting it lately as it's not a 'jam on the couch' synth without a fair bit...

I have the most questions about the evolver. If the mono evolver desktop was poly I would have bought it already. How hard is it to edit? Do I need to use a software editor? Am I insane for wanting to plug a shitty midi keyboard into it? Do I need poly when it has so much already? It's not hard to ...

Just picked up a Korg ER-1 (first gen) for less than a Volca FM and it can get so dark and glitchy and oh my lord why the hell have I never played with one before? Seriously insane. The mono Evolver desktop would have you not merely staring into the abyss, you'd also be sequencing tuned growling fee...

I want to research which machine would be most conductive to noise/experimental music but the site continues to be down. Reframe the question by rejecting the binary of 'most'. In this case, it doesn't apply. The answer is: either one or both. If you're curious about playing and sequencing actual n...

Re: Serge expansion

Hi everyone! I currently have a two panel Serge system and I have been thinking about what to expand with. I have a red voice, quadslope, and creature. I like to make sounds that have kind of a groove not necessarily tonal music. I also like to make the weird bug sounds too, but not as often. Just ...

Thanks guys. The issue of whether Serge is a closed format has been firmly and unambiguously answered. More importantly, this thread has taught me that Serge isn't really a fully specified standard but 4U has a few candidates in the pipeline. 4U fits a physical size, but is not a 'standard' beyond ...

Interesting. It appears that Serge could take back the entire business if he wanted to. He must be good friends with Rex considering he hasn't been paid any royalties after all this time. Hold on a sec, I want form a judgment before hearing Rex's side of the story. This would fit my own narrative.....

If I can't manage to sort the vintage panel out I'll probably add the audio interface and try that config. Creature + Audio Interface is a lot of power and utility in one tiny boat. You could live quite happily with that combo for some time. If you can't imagine ever having a Soup Kitchen shop pane...
