R*S red/white/black/gray seems mostly pleasing aesthetically to me and is clean/simple
Buchla scheme also looks very nice and I enjoy but it doesn't make any sense

Re: Does no screen make a sequencer really see like more of a 'real instrument'?
I have the engine and I like it as there isn't anything much better I found- but I have similar feelings that it could actually be easier to use if it had a screen. There are still a lot of button combinations to remember how to do things and it can actually be more confusing without.

Re: Behringer 2600
And for anyone moaning about behringer using cheap parts - mate you want see how DIY cloners stretch their margins with the nastiest, dirt cheap components!!! I'd never in a million years buy a handmade clone or DIY unless I was sourcing the parts. Idk what you’re talking about but this is not true...

As I look around the only thing that's not really replaceable with something else or I couldn't see myself without is the erm multiclock. I guess even that has alternatives technically but none as good.

Re: Thinking of going back to school for electronics - worth it?
@ Eatyourguitar - my current level of engineering is that I took calculus in high school, basically no engineering or science in college, and have forgotten all the calculus from high school. lol. It had been 10 years since I took any classes, more since I took any math or calculus. I did algebra/t...

Re: Thinking of going back to school for electronics - worth it?
I'm currently in my 3rd semester returning to school at 32 in a Bachelors EE program. Synths reignited my interests in electronics and helped me figure out what I really want to do after leaving the career I was in, but I'm not doing this under the assumption I'm going end up building synths as a ca...

Re: new Synthi inspired machine coming from Erica Synths
Have you ever played a SEMblance or a Vostok? No word at all from AS that it has nothing at all to do with an Oberheim SEM or an EMS, except layout, but people swear it sounds similar to an SEM or kind of like an EMS - strange. Here Erica goes out of their way to spell their intentions out. And thi...

Re: new Synthi inspired machine coming from Erica Synths
How is the sound of the Syntrx? Would you say it‘s similar to a Synthi? If it wasn't packaged in a box that looked like a synthi I don't think anyone would really care about it. Erica synths has managed to find the perfect formula to get sales on a mediocre to outright bad sounding synth from peopl...

Re: My sub died. Need help choosing new monitors/sub
Hi all. Long time member, terrible poster. My Tannoy TS8 sub died today (no power). My monitors are Tannoy Reveal Actives. I've been pretty satisfied with this setup for I guess 20 years now? But, it looks like it's time to move on. What would you recommend? 20 years of faithful services leaves me ...

Re: Why buy used at recent market prices?
From an environmental and sustainability side isn't it better to buy used instead of creating demand for even more electronic waste and environmental impacts from manufacturing and feeding the demand for companies to pump out endless new products every year? Is it really such a good thing that ther...

Re: Why buy used at recent market prices?
Electronic music is hard to make any environmental or sustainable argument for. Whether it's e-waste not in the landfill or the fuel required to move a used module from place to place. I'm afraid the spectre of capitalism and dreams of success overpower any salient arguments otherwise. Fuel is also...

Re: Why buy used at recent market prices?
There's also the argument that relocating an unwanted module to a new user is simply more efficient in the grand scheme of things. Yes... the new gear market has gotten way out of hand too with companies constantly releasing new products with minor revisions, or things that don't really offer anyth...

not trying to start a "are clones OK" argument. and I'm not outraged at one or the other. just asking if they actually straight-up cloned anything, by circuit and look/feel. sounds like I was correct when I thought no. You're making a distinction and rules for what constitutes a clone that are not ...

Re: new Synthi inspired machine coming from Erica Synths
My point is about the company in general that already has multiple other products that actually are clones. do they? I'm not aware of any. yes, they recreated the circuitry of the Polivoks for eurorack, but that's not actually a clone. likewise with their Roland-based drum modules. these all take a...

Re: new Synthi inspired machine coming from Erica Synth
They’re blatantly ripping off the Synthi brand mystique as the core their marketing strategy. Without actually delivering a Synthi clone. How is this any less xploitive than the B-word? Exactly. Re: new Synthi inspired machine coming from Erica Synths
A tribute to the form of the EMS, without claiming to be equal to EMS, without Bogart ripping off EMS (like some modern makers do to others quite leagally). For a solid built unit with these features it is likely worth the dough. I wonder if Girts and the crew ever sleep. Erica Synths has an entire...
