Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

There is no real way to mess up the wire routing of the replacement reverb tank because its all tied to the board and posts ans you don't need to undo any of that to unplug the tank. I do wonder if maybe the plugs were reversed though. That can make a tank sort of work depending on the input/output ...

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

I think the black and orange was a bullet they bit despite cost to update the look purely as an attempt to modernize. Or at least late 70s early 80s modern. We tend to think that the vintage stuff has a classic look now but at the time gold/brown oddys probably seemed terribly dated. Once you go wit...

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

That manufactured by line is awesome. Folded and z springs are much more durable, as are shorter springs. In almost all cases a long spring is actually two short springs mechanically joined. The break usually happens at the transducers though. I have seen actual springs mangled and they still sound ...

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

A locking spring is the solution for touring since the appropriate vertical mount is not currently manufactured. That said you would have to find a vintage fender unit for that as i dont think anyone makes locking tanks now. Truthfully i think the korg units break because of a manufacturing flaw and...

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

Bunch of extra random crap - Incidentally, I got a call from my Sweetwater rep today trying to sell me a new Prophet 5 or 10, which I most definitely don't need to even consider, and we talked bout the tank issue. Seems there have been lots of problems with this as I speculated back when sweetwater ...

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

Belton codes are not identical to accutronics codes, though many codes and locations are the same. The replacement I gave is the exact drop in that is available in the US. I get that people like to debate technical bits on here but all you guys are doing is confusing a very simple repair with lots o...

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

The bl code means belton. The 2 means two spring. They are special order only out of the factory in korea. The american drop in replacement is the accutronics 4eb3c1b from stew mac. Its the second one on their list that only ships to the usa. I have mentioned all of this further back in this thread ...

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

You have to remove the side screws, bottom screw, panel screws, and handle screws on the korg That spring damage is exactly what happens when the wrong tank mounting is used. The korg part number is for a horizontal mount and this one is mounted vertically. You can order the replacement from stewmac...

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

I posted this on gearslutz, figured I would post here too I opened mine up just to have a look around and noticed that the reverb tank Korg used is specced for horizontal mounting even though it’s used in a vertical position in the 2600. I know that you can adjust the inner tray springs to help comp...

Re: Spray varnishing older modular panels

Just an update on the original topic of this thread. It's more that two years later and the module faceplates treated with the phosphoric acid "Must for Rust" are as shiny as the first day they were treated with no sign at all of rust returning or any damage to the silk screen print. I've also not h...

and dfam just doesn't hit that hard. I wholeheartedly disagree. I’ve teased out some pretty special patches on that machine. I'm with you on this one. Dfam goes into attack mode really easily. It seems a little limited at first glance, but with a little external modulation/sequencing, it can be ver...

Re: ARP 1601 clone Build Thread

Reflow the solder on all three of the SMT chips, if they are in your build, making sure that the joints are solid and not shorted.

I fixed an intermittent clock issue on my build by doing this.

I always forget about that forum. My system is one of the early two row packages with a handful of extra modules and the square connectors. It does have several discontinued modules, though I'm not sure that matters.

Re: Starter Setup ?

If you want to actually make music in line with Skinny Puppy/FLA stuff I wouldn't go with any of the suggestions here. Modular later, for sure, but not to start. If you just want to get into modular and maybe do some music later on that is like those bands, sure buy some modular, but understand that...

Nice demos.

I've been thinking of selling off my AE modular as I seldom use it. Maybe buying those new cables will get back into it?

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

Exactly. The flight case is the best option for shipping this synth. The main unit is 45 or so pounds and the kbd is another 20, with both needing to be in separate boxes. You can use the flight case as a table for the synth. Put it up against a wall, with the casters off and put the 2600 on top. Us...

Re: Behringer 2600

It seems weird that Keeble gets involved to increase the quantity of his own designs that he can manufacture at once, only to develop a 2600 that makes his modules less desirable. Maybe he and Behringer are planning 2500 modules instead? The form factor kind of sucks. You can really rack mount it be...
