Hi, I haven't tried it myself, but you should definitely be able to update the FPGA using the Linux tools. The Linux version of the Quartus tools are just as capable as the Windows versions. The Cylonix Cyclebox has a visual indication of when the pitch is middle-C (261.6 Hz). It doesn't get you exactly on tune unless you are very very careful, but can get you pretty close.

The only way to avoid the wraparound would be to truncate the grain so that it doesn't go into the future. This would cause a glitch.
