Re: Tasty Chips Electronics GR-1

Kind of a quiet thread of an interesting looking piece of gear. Either you guys are too busy using it to post or this hasn't reached many people yet. On the previous page a few of you mentioned that you ordered one or you had just gotten it. How are you getting along with it now that you've had it f...

Re: Any Erica Black Stereo Delay Users Out There?

clocking to start it........not shure why. Need to investigate more when my modular is up and running again. I'm selling my Rainmaker and am searching around for delays. This one recently went up high on my list. What exactly did you mean by this? Is it clocking well but you're having trouble with ...

Re: The dwindling world of specialists

The other day I was unable to find a bathroom for 5 or so hours due to covid. I might be able to write a screenplay on my attempts to locate one and how I avoided soiling myself. That’s actually hilarious. Well done for not soiling yourself. Having said that, I still consider my mind a sponge and I...

Re: The dwindling world of specialists

That may be the problem, there's no 'win' to be had here. On either side. It's a discussion, with different viewpoints. You brought up Tom Petty. I brought up four other guitarists within the same genre you might feel differently about. All five are in the Popular music category so it's not about p...

Re: The dwindling world of specialists

Thanks for sharing the thoughts behind your viewpoint. Was Les Paul classical or jazz? Eric Clapton? Eddie Van Halen? SRV? ;) It's just a viewpoint and nothing more or less. I thought it would be a good discussion but it seems to be more of a debate. And debating between Pop and Classical wasn't ev...

Re: The dwindling world of specialists

@Gringo Starr This makes no sense. How is the piano player in a Jazz combo more a specialist than the keyboard player of a pop record? <--Yeah, I threw the softball lob in there on purpose. How is the violinist in the classical orchestra any more a specialist than the guitarist in a pop song? edit:...

Re: The dwindling world of specialists

This makes me wonder what kind of positive and/or negative effects this will this have on the future of popular music genres? I say popular music genres because in the world of classical and jazz they are most likely specialists. In pop music they’re also specialists, as you already proved with the...

Wow that note he's holding right at 1:20 - 1:22 is floating somewhere in and out of that space between nowhere and somewhere. The Twilight Zone of the key you're playing in that exists between the sharps and flats of the sharps and flats and the fact that it worked is very cool.

The vocal gift

About a year and a half ago when I was at work I had my back turned towards the retail space. I heard a woman talking and immediately my ears tuned in to her voice. I immediately knew this woman was capable of singing beautifully. I kept working and kept listening to her voice and couldn’t believe h...

Re: NE Desmodus Versio

Does the Desmodus Versio finally get to studio-quality levels like the Big Sky? Or is eurorack still way behind pedals? Or we talking apples and oranges here? I guess we need to define what "studio quality levels" means in this context. I'm not a Strymon fan whatsoever. All sounds vanilla to me. So...

Sounds good to me. G-Storm seem to be picking up some steam here on Muffs. Lately Ive been seeing more talk about his modules. Thats awesome. His Tonus VCF is pretty nice too.

Re: New drum module demo - Quanalog Boubou

Interested in picking one of these up. Anyone have can give a bit more detail on the sound etc? Limited videos online do look nice. Quite Tanzbary? Not sure to go for this or separate drum modules or perhaps blck noir or just stick to external drums. I’d like to hear more too. I don’t have any drum...

To follow the bread crumbs... What's everyone's favorite SEM filter?

Also Mum M8 sounds cool, kinda want one now.
That AJH 2412 filter sounds beautiful but it’s a space hog.

Re: Filters you like with chords

Have you tried attenuating the input? I don't think I've paid attention to this. Thanks for mentioning that. +1, and no saturation dialed in. I've used the MMF1s for 4-voice paraphonic chords / stabs and got fantastic results. Cheers :guinness: :tu: this I've done. That saturation is nice but not f...

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. That ALM MUM M8 does sound nice. I've never looked into that one before. Only 8hp too which is a plus. I also love SEM filters and had plans on getting one for my rack at some point anyways. Actually all of these filters suggested sound great. That's what makes i...

Re: What's your patch sampling work flow?

I'll make loops that seem to work by themselves but when paired with other loops either the transition from one to another is weird and jarring or the timing is off or some other problem. I might not be understanding why your loops aren't transitioning well and these are pretty basic suggestions so...

Filters you like with chords

The only filter I have in my system is a Cwejman MMF-1s. It's a beautiful filter when just running one or two notes at a time but when I get full four note chords running in there, no mater how it's tweaked, it doesn't sound very pleasant. It could be user error but so far this has been my experienc...

Re: Why buy used at recent market prices?

I agree

I only buy used if it’s a really good deal or something that isn’t made anymore. A module that’s $300 brand new and is selling used for $250 isn’t worth it to me. You can normally get 10% off the new price which takes it to $270. For an extra $20 plus tax more I’d rather get it new.
