Re: How do you connect your Eurorack synth to amp/mixer/other external equipment ?

Interested whether people just use a (very)long 3.5mm to XLR or 6.25mm jack cable so you can plug into anywhere as an output, or do you use a module to convert to line level with an XLR or 6.25mm jack with a proper volume control and so on ? Also what do the banana people do as obviously a banana t...

I have a couple of packs of these:

They're really handy for adjacent module semi-permanent connections. Not the thinnest but they don't get in the way.

Re: Behringer Swing

So I'm legitimately curious, if we remove all discussion of whether this is an unethical hack, is there literally ANYTHING to say about this product? "Big knobs, hur hur" and "microUSB? really?", more or less. By definition, it's not big on bringing anything new to the table, being a clone of a cur...

Re: Module which unexpectedly blew you away?

Ryo Aperture. I thought I wanted it as an LPG, but it turns out that I wanted it for its ability to be a filthy, snarling resonant LPF. A glorious module with a surprising number of useful features- but it really shines when you have it balanced on the edge of self-oscillation with the on-board inpu...

Re: sequencer, your experiences! shakmat, elequencer and Co.

Using a Metron and 2 Volteras here. I definitely love that combo. On the other hand I don't know the Eloquencer ;) What you cannot do easily with Voltera is to enter a complex melody, you already have in mind how it's supposed to be. For me as a piano player I miss the feature to record a melody fr...

Re: sequencer, your experiences! shakmat, elequencer and Co.

Metron and Eloquencer both have excruciatingly detailed tutorial videos available, and Four Bricks has a few too. You’ll probably get some opinions, but they don’t matter much. You have to go watch the videos, look at the manuals, exercise your imagination, and make a considered gut call whether th...

Re: Do you own an oscilloscope?

I have an O'Tool+ and a really shonky Chinese pocket DSO, and find it really useful to be able to visualise complex modulation, check voltages and similar. It can be helpful for getting to the bottom of why something is or isn't working. Sometimes it's really nice to be able to answer "so what reall...

Re: Behringer TD-3

Question for those that have done the VCF mod to make the TD-3 ‘darker’... How far did you have to turn the screw to the left to achieve a tone that was more similar to a TB-303? If you really worry about such things, there's a little bit of vague calibration info in the tb-303 service manual .

I watched a few videos of Uli Behringer interviews. He's less flamboyant, but he reminds me of Elon Musk.

Re: Repeatability of patch

One of the biggest arguments some people have against hardware modular, or 100% analog synths, is a lack of patch recall. For me that's just not something I have any interest in. I understand the appeal for people who play live, and want each performance of a a particular song to be consistent. Or ...

Re: Repeatability of patch

"It depends". Sometimes a patch depending on multiple things interacting in specific ways (e.g. time ratios or things balanced on the edge of chaotic behaviour) can be hard to find again, general principles and discoveries less so. You normally come away knowing more than you did, in some form- that...
