Re: Do high end mixers matter?

speaking of "color". what does that really mean? i often hear about devices "adding color" and the "coloration" of sound.

what is colored? and what is not colored?

(no philosophy, please :hihi:)

i borrowed my first copy of horowitz and hill in 98, and pretended i knew electronics for a number of years afterwards. H&H is not very good for learning electronics at a beginner level i've found out... so many elementary important concepts that are simply glossed over!! more of a handbook for rea...

Re: How to measure pcb test point on assembled module

put the red probe on the test point and the black one to 0V (ground). you'll find ground points in several places in the circuit. for instance a resistor leg going to ground is optimal and easily accessible. or an IC power pin for instance. just pick one. if this is hard to find, you always have the...

Re: Various questions: Tricore osc, banana cables and book suggestions?

Roland put out four books on synthesis with examples primarily featuring the 100M modular system. Both Roland and Behringer make Eurorack clones. Most the settings should transfer to other systems with tweaking. The ones below seem most useful: /https://archive.org/details/synth_Practical_Synthesis...

yes - it shows up.

actually, i think that the legacy mode will probably work - i just need to connect the midi cables.( probably no need even for the c6 application. worth a try). that is presupposing that the midi timepiece isn't causing an issue....
did legacy mode work?

EDIT: Pelsea's being humble not to mention that he has a set of lab notes available to purchase that will likely cover what you're after. They've had good reviews from those who have them.
i'd love to purchase a copy of this. how do i proceed, @pelsea?

Re: Explain drivers please

this seems to be why people keep old computers around and never update the software on them. old drivers don't die, rather the operating system sometimes pulls the carpet from under their feet when they are upgraded. maintaining software free of bugs and functioning is one thing, but in this event t...

Re: diy partial-kit frustration rant

I'm sensing some gatekeeping posts coming into the thread and I'm going to put it bluntly: If you want your community to expand and encourage people to get into DIY and amateur engineering then make it a safe place to fail and grow. More people will make more money and eurorack will continue to evo...

Re: Jack Signal Detection

even with no signal applied, there is still a voltage on the input pin. everything in the world has a voltage associated with it. so, lets say this voltage is exactly 0V. those opamps will have some offset voltage internal to them, lets say its something small like 100uV. so internal to the opamp y...

a strategy for decision is sorting by the availability/stock column, and just pick whichever they have most of in stock. those should in theory be common

assuming you are making for euro, what you need to look for is "shielded single core audio wire" or something along those lines. always have trouble myself finding the right search term for these pretty standard cables. anyone have a better name? something like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item...
