Re: IPad as send and return effect box ?

Yeah, it works. I’ve tried it many times with AUM. And yes, latency is an issue. May or may not be a problem depending on your needs.

Re: would you recommend a modular to someone new to making music?

I would not. Especially for a beginner. There’s so much to learn in just producing basic tracks (of any genre). I’ve got a solid 30 years with modular synths and I still find it distracting and somewhat frivolous. You see it here on Muffs all the time.... people who are super into modulars that ask ...

Digitally Imported, DI.FM Radio. Tons of different dance stations. All genres and sub-genres. “Underground Techno”, Detroit Techno”, “Deep Tech”, “Dub Techno”, etc etc etc etc. Most stations on DI are curated by either top DJs or Label heads.

Re: Waldorf Microwave XT repair issues

Hi everyone, Would any of you be willing to sell a Microwave XT Expansion Board? I can't seem to be able to contact Encore. Best, Ed I’ve tried multiple times contacting Encore about a 30 voice expansion for my XTk with no reply. And I’m not the only one. I take this as a sign that they’re not goin...

Re: Gear suggestions: moving away from Elektron

Yeah, I’ve tried to like Elektron over the years. Starting with the first MachineDrum all the way to the present offerings. Great boxes, no hate at all....I just don’t care for the workflow, interface, or weird limitations TBH. I prefer either MPC’s for “live” sequencing or a Cirklon for step sequen...

Re: anyone go from modular back in the box?

Used hardware modular since the 90’s. Honestly I just got bored with it. Not mention the ridiculous cost for even a basic system. Sold it all. After a year I bought a “skiff” and tried putting a system together. It was nice enough and functional. But the love affair was over. Ended up selling that t...

Seen them live many times in the era of Waiting Room, Repeater, etc (as well as Minor Threat before that). Big fan and amazing live, but Ian MacKaye can be a bit preachy at shows.

Re: The Tempest Is Dead, Long Live The Tempest

I thought it was a brilliant concept and had the potential to be a true classic, but is flawed for the reasons mentioned in this thread. Still very worth getting IMO, as long as you understand it’s nature. I had been sooooo excited for it going back to the day when it was originally called the ‘BOOM...

Re: miRack for iOS - now available

miRack as an AUv3 is amazing. I find myself using it a lot more now. As my main workspace is AUM. So nice to be able to add quality reverbs like an Eventide or delays like RE-1. iOS have been on fire recently with this and stuff like Drambo. Great work mifki. My only wishlist at this point (besides ...

Re: Never meet your heroes

I'm probably going to get a lot of "you should have given it more time" comments but . for me it was Digitakt, just couldn't deal with menu diving. Not just you. Not a fan of the Elektron way of doing things at all. I wanted to love every Elektron box I ever bought, but ended up selling every one. ...

Re: Setting Levels in a DAW and what's the ideal RMS/Peak level for Samples in your opinion?

I’ve experimented with this over the decades. Definitely ‘A’ for me. But I’m using samples in a variety of different devices. Both hardware and software. I also think in some cases its very subjective. In most cases I “0dBu” my samples, BUT, sometimes that can ruin samples by bringing up background ...

Re: Ever swapped desktop module for keyboard version and felt the gain?

I generally do NOT like keyboard synths, mostly because they’re huge and take up too much space, but for some reason when it comes the Waldorf Microwave XT I prefer the XTK. I’ve had 4 different ‘XT’s’ but only seem to bond with the keyboard version for some reason? Weird. :despair:

Re: Keith McMillen K-Mix - MIDI controllable AI/mixer

I've been able to setup the Kmix to work with my 2018 iPad Pro. You will want some type of dongle to allow usb midi devices to be used while the Kmix is plugged in (minimum 2 usb slots). I use AUM to pipe the I/O, and allow post monitoring (iPad output). Kmix is then set to post to loop back the iP...

Re: Keith McMillen K-Mix - MIDI controllable AI/mixer

Bumping this thread to see if anybody is successfully using a K-Mix with iOS. More importantly iPadOS. I’m in the process of moving currently and this could possibly be a cool little mixer/interface to get me by for awhile.

So, any iPad/K-Mix users?

Re: XTK is my cold dead hands synth.

Regarding the sound, I used to have a Blofeld, and the demos of the XT seem to have quite a different sound to them, just more pleasing to the ear. And the interface is obviously vastly better... anyone have both that can comment on the differences? Seems like the XT is now going for around 1200 - ...

The customs thing is very weird here in US. For about 30+ years of buying all manner of music gear (and backpacking equipment, etc) from around the globe, I was never charged anything. Then recently UPS (Specifically UPS) started doing this “we’re holding your package until you pay us $75” thing...?...

Re: Beepstreet Drambo *RELEASED*

Spent an evening with the ipad hooked up to the modular with an ES-8 - tons of fun just recording modular bits and loops into the flexi sampler and mangling them up. The interface is really great and well thought out too. It's pretty much everything I would ever use an Octatrack for in a much frien...
