Re: Spare modules laying around

I have kept many modules around at times, waiting for the inevitable case upgrade. Most recently, I started back into MU land with a Box 11, and it worked its way up to 5 modules that did not have a home until I bought a second Box 11 and turned it into a thought box. I have a couple of empty spaces...

Re: Q163 Eurorack Adapter

FWIW - I think I proposed something like this a couple years ago and got (ahem) very modest response. That being said - I'm honestly happy to see that Roger took it to the next level and actually made this. I'll probably be ordering one. Actually Curetronics offered a Euro to MU adapter 10 years ag...

Re: Custom Synthesizers.com Modules

FWIW, I've thought of doing the same combo thing with a pair of Q116 Ring Mods. 8-) I have done some of my own custom Dotcom stuff in the past, such as a 1U Dual Q109 (also used 2 of Megaohm's VCA Riders and a push/pull pot for the Attach knob to get long/short functionality) and a 1U Q106 (that on...

Re: Is Megaohm still in business?

This thread is more like the "Megaohm Celebrity Roast"! I have nothing but good things to say about Phil, I have had the MA 20 filter ( I may need to get another, as he can still make them), the LFO 2, and a custom Stompbox Adapter. He also did a bunch of custom work for, like wiring up some smaller...

Re: Advice on a 5U skiff for a bass player

I traveled in the Wayback Machine back to 2013 to locate the datasheet for the Q-104. There are only two jumpers on the board, one which sets whether the board is being used as a Q-104 module or when it is used in a keyboard, apparently. The other jumper sets the source of the on-board +5V power su...

the dotcom midi2cv module has a little clip/jumper u have to change on the motherboard to use it for bass. Its totally not obvious, but there is some documentation on dotcom how to do it (the picture is kind of confusing).
Was this jumper on the older Q104, or is it on the Q174?

Re: Advice on a 5U skiff for a bass player

Anyway if there was a way to turn an Electro-Harmonix POG or MXR Bass Octave pedal into a module with some kinda CV out tap to the rest of the synth I'd go for that first ... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! I was thinking about dropping by the local music store today when I do my "to town" errands. They have a...

Re: The Bull has arrived!

The original model had two (not exponentially controlled) saw tooth oscillators with circuitry to allow unison or offset operation depending on which "instrument" was chosen. You are correct, I had it backwards! The Taurus 1 had Linear Controlled Oscillators, Like the original 901Bs, not exponentia...

Demo's?
Yes, this really screams for a decent demo and/or comparison to other MU Moog Style filters. I always read that the Expo controlled oscillators were the "mojo" for the Taurus 1, I didn't know that the filter was that unique.

Doug,

I see that the Buchla guys are getting this sequencer with the upgrades to store sequences. Are you planning on giving these upgrades to the MU units as well? Can the software get upgraded on current modules?

Re: Dotcom Panel wiring vs. Panel PCBs

Let me Start by saying that I am not a "DIY" guy, and my skills with a slobbering iron are not very good. However, I love the way that Synthesizers.com designs their modules so that I can make "custom" modules. This is great for smaller systems that have limited panel space. People have combined mod...

Tiny clip from about an hour of recording with loads of different sounds... https://clyp.it/zhuk22oe Listening back over the clip it just sounds really simple, and you could probably get a similar sound in many other ways. But what's brilliant about the Hordijk system is you have control at so many...

I agree with the older part, but not about the tethered to the internet part.

I think that there is less product, lower number of manufacturers, and less direct manufacturer posts, which all lead to a lower number of posts and topics.

Best headphone amp / iOS interface for bass guitar?

With everyone staying home, I have less time to turn up the amp and practice. Is anyone using one of those headphone amps that plug into your bass? Which one? How do you interface with you iPhone or iPad to play along with YouTube or record to Garage Band?

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

Concerning visual feedback I found this to be a really cool solution. The drawback is, you have to have the ipad at hand in order to see the patch, otherwise you can recall 24 pre-made patched from the card itself. I guess this could be very useful for live situations. I have to say I think the ide...

I received this set of bass pedals during an equipment trade many years ago. They are custom built by someone from some organ pedals, and they have a MIDI output. The MIDI implementation looks to be pretty good, but I keep it set at one channel. The Octave up and down buttons are helpful, but I LOVE...

Re: I like my knobs...

I did a number of repanels of Dotcom modules in the past. Unfortunately, I sold off all of my MU a few years ago when I went all Euro, so some of these modules are floating out there! I combined 2 of the Q109 ADSR modules into a 1U module (all of my custom panels were done by Ben at Big Blue Wave), ...
