Noise into the ms20 external in, trigger out to clock the sq1. This solution worked like a dream. I changed the patch around just a bit, and replaced the noise source with a steady drone with quite heavy harmonics. This lead to the sequence playing exactly like I wanted it to: fast and hectic at ti...

This is roughly what I had in mind: to use a noise source to clock the S/H, and then use that to sync the sequence. But I didn't consider just syncing the sequence direct with a noise source. I'll give that a shot as well!

Programming a random step length for SQ1 with MS20m

I know this might be a bit of a long shot, but is there a way to make a patch between SQ1 and MS20m that alters the sequence's step length "randomly"? The step length doesn't have to be purely random: even a simple cycle between notably faster and slower notes is enough. I'm wondering whether this w...

I just ordered the module from Etsy you linked on your previous post, that ought to get me started!

That's right, it hadn't occured to me that I could use external modules to achieve what's on my mind. I may stick to using signal splitters for multiplying inputs, as my set-up is already an elaborate pile of stuff bordering on inpractical, but I will start looking into different mixers. My understa...

Using signal splitters while patching MS20m

Semi-modulars are tolerated on this sub-forum, right? Recently I've started thinking about different ways of expanding the usability of the MS20m patch bay within the context of drone music and such. As I've been trying to keep my Serge-itch at bay to my best capabilities by trying to create as West...

I'd say that I prefer the spec of an Animus (DC-coupled mixers and primitive ring modulators) to the La Bestia 2 - I'd rather have the PCO than the variable slope filter, but the Bestia sounds great, I like those balanced outs, and the price difference is pretty significant. Even with a relatively ...

Don’t forget RS and loudest warning sales put money into Serge’s pocket STS refuses to pay royalties Yeah, my original list of reasons why I was leaning towards R*S included both companies' praxes in this regard. I was aware R*S was working in direct co-operation with Serge himself, but didn't know...

On a different note, I just have to say that the Loudest Warning panels are simply gorgeous things. Absolutely stunning instruments. One thing to also remember about LW is that he uses the full panel for module space. STS and R*S give 16 vertical units, LW gives you 17. It doesn't sound like ...

The videos are not so much learning the panels, I do know them really well in terms of what each input and output does (I promise  ) but exploring the depths of the modules and how they can interact. Yes, that's a better way of putting it, and that is what I meant -- I certainly didn't mean t...

I recommend LW too. I got an Animal-like panel 2nd hand and it is amazing. That system wavecircle showed is absolutely perfect for a 2 panel serge. My LW panel has 2 PCO and no ring, which gets me a variable slope filter. The variable Q is really sharp and howls, the variable slope is more rubbery ...

The oscillators sound amazing. :hail: Does anyone have a good idea how the 258 differs from Serge oscillators, such as the NTO (apart from being, well, very different things by design alone)? I'm essentially some pay checks away from ordering a panel from LW, but am wondering which oscillators to go...

I recommend wavecircle 's instagram account as a source of demos of the Animal-like panel that Charlie built for him. The little recordings on there sound great but also, as far as I can tell, document the discoveries of someone learning his way around the panel (I hope that does not seem offensive...

Charlie Loudest Warning is the bad producer here (note the spaces, not as written by emenel) and comes highly recommended. He can put together individual panels or full 17" panels as seen in the post by wavecircle above. I recommend wavecircle 's instagram account as a source of demos of the Animal...

There is an excellent panel that is neither STS nor RS for sale by oldenjon. Take a look  I am intrigued, I definitely should take a look at other makers' selections as well. Do they have a website etc. where their panels could be browsed? 8-) EDIT: ...or are they a user on this forum?

i cannot speak for La Bestia II, but I have an STS Animal and it's one of the best single panels / complete synths I've owned. I personally feel that having two vco's is essential. I often cross modulate, or use the second VCO to modulate the wave multi in an audio range, and then with the 'range' ...

Baby's first Serge: STS Animal vs. R*S La Bestia II

I couldn't find a topic similar to this, and I don't think this would've fit the sticky Serge topics, so I decided to make a new one. I apologise in advance if I simply missed a topic I could've read instead. But anyway: As the title suggests, I'm dead set on acquiring my first Serge as soon as I ha...

I'm a devoted fan of Korg Monotribe. Very flexible on its own as a stand-alone instrument, and fantastic for "pure" drones and aggressively distorted walls of noise respectively.

A modified Casio CTK-50 through delay and reverb is also a favourite for lo-fi ambient. 8-)
