Re: Attenuator as output - downsides?

Thanks that is good to know. Looking at the build guide it's more like 50K, although I stay well under 12 o'clock to avoid distortion..

Re: Attenuator as output - downsides?

Thanks, that gave me something to google, which made me find https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/understanding-impedance . So that sounds like a bad idea. Would I best look for a VCA-based module that has an output impedance that matches the input impedance of my audio interface? What would be a...

Attenuator as output - downsides?

I'm happily using a triple attenuator module between my modular and my sound interface. Recently I have been wondering if there would be any downsides wrt quality vs. using a VCA based output module. Anyone with more electronics knowledge than me can enlighten me? Edited to add : This module (AT-AT-...

I used an ipad as well with fairly quick results, start at max volume and retry with 10% lower volume every time until it sticks.

Re: Which Joystick brings you joy?

Depends where you center your coordinate system. In any case, the edge cases where both pots are at min or max can't be reached in a round joystick.

Re: Which Joystick brings you joy?

Just removed the springs from my ol' Doepfer joystick and instant joy increase. On another note, why does almost every joystick have a round hole? As satisfying it can feel to go round in circles, is nobody missing positions like x=0, y=0?

Just installed mine. This thing is absolutely bonkers, great effects all around. The only problem is deciding which algos to leave out of a firmware.

Re: Behringer introduces RD-6

Hats are the hardest to nail IMO. In every 'almost there' drum machine it's always the hats that disappoint. On my RD-8 the hats are the one furthest from the original, so I would not be surprised if they were a bit off on the RD-6.

Re: Rabid Elephant NATURAL GATE

Just received mine from the latest batch from SchneidersLaden. The online manual makes a big fuss of using a special cable (2x6) with thicker wiring. My module however came with a bog standard 2x5 ribbon cable. If i remove it from the module I see the connector is 2x5 there as well, so the special c...

Re: Why buy used at recent market prices?

Agree. I don't pay VAT so new is 21% off already. Second hand is rarely much cheaper, and buying from a company has a lot of benefits from a consumer, like warranty, return policy, fast shipping &c.

Depends, if it's bare copper it could have corroded beyond return, if gold- or silver-plated it should be fine.

Re: It's official - Behringer 808...

I received my new credit card on 808 day so that was a sign I could not ignore.... Today the RD-8 arrived and it's very fun to use. I've read the quick start guide which refers to the user manual, which is not included. Did anyone else get a printed manual or are we supposed to download it?

I'm not able to build my own hardware. Teletype was on my wish list before I discovered SuperCollider.
You can get the original ready-built Norns if you don't want to solder.

Re: Eurorack and SuperCollider

I'm having a lot of fun with Fates, a self-built clone of Monome Norns, which is a little Raspberry Pi powered music computer that uses SuperCollider as a synth back end and lua as a GUI front end. It is part of a whole soft/hardware ecosystem, and I'm using Monome Crow as a eurorack interface with ...

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer Teaser

How come you are using them more? What were you using to control the synths prior to receiving the vector? I guess the process is more fun for me. Before I was either struggling to integrate a DAW with the modular and MIDI synths or using a hard disk/MIDI recorder instead of a DAW and struggling to...

Re: Xaoc Zadar, Quadruple Envelope Generator + Nin expander

Assuming Xaoc are manually soldering the encoders after receiving the PCBs with SMD parts from the factory, I wonder if there is a drop-in compatible optical encoder out there. I'm lusting after a Zadar in my system but would gladly pay a bit extra to not worry about encoders going bad over time.

Re: Random*Source Resonant Equalizer... or?

I really find that with the R*S the type of capacitor really plays an important role in the sound of the feedback i chose the advised polystyrene caps as they were more raw sounding and not so clean as the others like for instance the "tropical fish" caps. Interesting. I've found https://www.patch-...

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer Teaser

Im just curious... does anyone here use this a lot for midi sequencing? I'm curious if this could be a brain of a setup outside of modular. I've made tunes from the Vector without using any modular stuff, just external MIDI synths. I would say I have used my rack synths and my Blofeld more then eve...

If it's a hum you have a ground loop. Only way to fix it is to have all interconnected devices (including computer) hooked up to the same (grounded) wall socket.

It's hard to imagine a cheaper version, isn't the current one sold near cost price? Loving mine BTW.
