to me there is a pretty obvious line here. if someone completely rips off someone else then thats not ok. but using a blip of sound as a filler or a word said a certain way, i dont see anything wrong with that. personally i find it time consuming to go through the process. if i did it more often and...

i agree with this.

also with the extreme levels of distortion. ill use it to add subtle harmonic content. but destroying a sound, to me, defeats the purpose of creating a sound.

i generally use sends for most things. for my master channel i have a little EQ, compression, Limiter at the end to get everything to equal relative levels. I am still learning how to keep the dynamic range without contributing to the loudness war.

iiiiinteresting. I use just simple midi and audio connection and was still gathering a bit of latency. i adjusted the offset to account for the latency but it still wasn't in sync. this gave me couple ideas. thanks all!

OMG this is an excellent video. from 10-10:30 was incredible, the wave folding modulation was so amazing sounding! really cool demonstration with the drums creations, especially with the feedback for the hat sound. Ive been judging getting one of these or not. This video absolutely sold me! very wel...

Some questions - In your example are you monitoring through Live or from your desk? What interface are you using to get sound in/out of Live? What are the Audio Engine settings in Live set to (16/24/32bit 44.1k/96k etc). What version of Live are you using? Are you rendering the audio and thats when...

I tend to love making melodies because you can really bring the mood to life or clash opposing moods to create something totally different. I tend to start with a basic "da da dahh da da da" idea, with different note length and tempo and key and what not. but sometimes i make a bassline with my euro...

Re: using drum loops?

Do you use them as they are, or do you use them to start you off and then construct something of your own? thats one way to do it. find a tollerable drum loop sample as a "place holder" for tempo, sidechain effects or to even hear how the sound works with drums with it. then once you feel satisfied...

I am a big fan of more minimalist desgin. I create a 1, 2, or 4 bar loop with my system and then create a beat with that. then ill create little half bar to full bar sounds for fillers and transitions. i find really good transitions when i have just midi info triggering my setup and just start tweak...

I can understand not wanting a module to be torn up, but if the quality of its purpose is still intact, what’s the deal with a little scratch or rash? I’ve seen modules plummet in value just because of normal wear

this is an interesting question. I have pondered the life expectancy of modules and such. I figured if you take care of what youre using, and not just irresponsible with them, from my understanding they should last a loooooooooooooooooong time. I mean think of a Moog. those are lasting a long time.

Can someone give me a quick tutorial? with a sequencer the generate CV right? in which case you put the gate out into a vca to trigger the signal path you want controlled by the sequencer yes? I have been very curious about sequencers but have not totally grasped their functionality.
