Re: Korg Wavestate

Thanks, I just ordered four of those dogs. That hold function is next to useless. I mean, you have to enable hold in each layer separately, then disable in each layer separately when you want to hit a different note. They need to make a performance-oriented way (some sort of clever button combo) to ...

Re: Korg Wavestate

A hold button or a traditional sequencer that sits over all the layers really feels missing from it. Using the Wavestate in a bigger setup, I have to use something to trigger it's own sequencer. Between a sustain pedal, a "key dog" (basically a heavy object shaped to hold down a key), and external ...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

Sure, that's why an official user forum with a dedicated feature request thread is the norm. Edit : Actually they just answered about Micro-tuning, It's in the corner of their mind but no concrete plan have been made. Crap, I'd have loved microtuning. A feature request thread where they can track t...

Re: ATV aFrame electronic percussion instrument

It's great--everything I expected. As a longtime Zendrum player, quality dynamic response is everything to me, and my aFrame, being amplified acoustic, is sensitive to every nuance. The changes in timbre across the pad make it so that I don't miss having the 30 triggers on my Zendrum; in other words...

Re: Arturia PolyMatrix / PolyBrute coming?

Are the sliders better quality? My Matrixbrute ones snapped off in no time when touring last year & it took forever to get them repaired. I'll stick to the Summit thanks m, and maybe the Udo. That's good to know because I've played a MatrixBrute in the store many times, and---despite its wonderful ...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

I thought 4 octaves would be an annoyance, I would also prefer 5, but in practise I haven't found myself once wanting/needing more, in three months of almost daily playing. Having said that, if they did release a 5 octave version, I'd probably get it, but only because it's my only "full size" keybo...

is it just me, but the design aesthetic of this thing seems to make the synth appear an octave longer than it really is.
yeah, I guess the horizontality of the many sliders has an optically elongating effect.

I'd like to verify that it produces very little unamplified acoustic sound. I'd like to be able to play it at 3am using earphones without causing a disturbance.

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

I have a Jupiter-Xm that I'm going to liquidate. I like the sounds well enough, and they complement my Super 6, but it doesn't have MPE, so it goes. It does do 4-voice multitimbral, so I can emulate MPE to a degree, but still. The Super 6 doesn't have MPE yet, but its dedicated MPE button implies th...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

maybe, but the exterior of the hydrasynth I referred to the Hydrasynth's knobs simply as a point of comparison to convey my impression of the Super 6's knobs' quality, with no further comparison to the Hydrasynth intended. For example, I might have also said that the knobs on my Dreadbox Typhon or ...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

Yeah, I'm on the fence with the loose/tight thing. I'm fine with it as is, I guess, because there are pros and cons either way. I don't, however, find the device to be somehow extra-special in its construction It's built as much like a tank as anything else---I have no complaints at all---but there'...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

you don’t actually have to tap the screen as much as you think, especially with the quantum I'd also strongly prefer the Quantum as a complement to my Super 6 because I could run the Super 6 through the Quantum's real time granular engine while still having the Super 6's signal available from the Q...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

How does she compare to Waldorf Quantum/Iridium? I'm considering the Quantum/Iridium precisely as a complement to my Super 6 because they cover such different sonic territory. Also---and obviously, I suppose---the Super 6 is 100% immediate with no screen at all, but the Waldorfs are all about inter...

Re: Pulsar-23 by Soma

Trying out the IOlabs FLUX Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer with the Pulsar-23. It looks like Flux is the kind of rhythm sequencer I've been waiting for. Ornament-8 doesn't seem like much to me, and the Pulsar Buddy will do irrational rhythms, but is just for getting one non-binary clock divisi...

it's somewhat brutal to buy just a mic from them because the shipping is about the cost of the mic. I hear you: I just bit the bullet and ordered a Sensel Morph overlay whose shipping cost was greater than the cost of the item. It's the principle more than the actual money involved, I guess, but I ...

Sorry to fall back on this truism, but you need to get them all because there's no way in advance to know which one will suit you best. In fact, all three are useful, with no one standing out. For me, they all suit depending on my whim.

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

What else do you say about the OB-6 but creamy? I love that thing, but it's never fit any of my situations because its limitation exactly to what it's so great for (classic synth tones) simply means that I won't get enough use out of it compared to others further up my list. The Buchla Easel is the ...

The joy of discovery, sure, but I do wish I had diagrams or photos of the patches for stealing ideas, verifying my sanity, etc. For example, Battwave doesn't seem to work the way I expect. Also, in terms of a complementary sound, I'd thought of the P6 more than OB-6, and then possibly the Prophet X,...

Re: Pulsar-23 by Soma

I've shelved my Pulsar; I've started thinking I may also not have enough use for it (at the opportunity cost). The Pulsar worked great with my Zendrum drum controller-the Perc setting on the BASS module was super useful here--but I'm now adapting a LinnStrument as a live percussion controller, and ...
