Did someone say 'fully analogue monosynth that has some more interesting and unusual possiblities for sound design, whils still being very musically usable' and 'will be sequencing with a DAW'? Welcome to almost exactly the route I went with modular. Here's my setup: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/r...

Hey man, Welcome to the rabbit hole - lol!!! I have to ask, I recognize your handle from either old school Ableton forum or the Dogs On Acid forum (think it's DOA). Is that you?? Always liked your stuff if that's you! Anyways, I like your module choice and the fact your breaking out of the DAW - th...

I d add a mutable instruments Stages in there for versatility (or replace the maths with it). You d get nice envelopes/lfo/sequencing possibilities. Also a second small osc like a Dixie or doepfer to go with rubicon. Can stages output more than one envelope/lfo at a time? That's the main reason I g...

I didnt plan a rack on modulargrid, i started with a guy who was making something I loved the sound of and picked up some of the items he named that he used. Found about $1000 in peripheral necessities along the way that werent named, but were needed, but it worked out. Planning a multi thousand do...

Isn't this what people pay good money for, the 'warm' sound of tape, i.e. transient smearing?
that's part of it, but then there's also the RIAA EQ curve: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIAA_equalization

Re: Recording a deep 909 type kick to 8-trk cassette :))

Hi, I’ve sampled some drums from the Vermona DRM1, including the kick in question, into my mpc, arranged a complete beat and am now recording via 8 outputs into a Tascam 688 8-trk cassette recorder, using a maxell xl-2-s tape. No issues with the deck, sound is a-ok. Oh, Im monitoring in some beyerd...

I output stereo signals from my rig almost exclusively. I don't double my module count to do it either. I do it a couple of ways. I end the audio chain with a effects module, in my case I have a couple of old TipTop Z5000 effects modules and either feed them mono (seldom) or feed them stereo from t...

I've never heard of a counterfeit synth. Seems like a hell of a lot of effort to go to. Surely it'd be easier to stick to Rolex watches and handbags.

Thanks for the reply addendum . I know there are many resources to read up on audio theory, but is there one you'd recommend that you feel explains things very clearly? So if stereo outputs in modular are not transporting two distinct signals, why would they have two distinct outputs? "stereo" just...

You'll just need something that can receive two inputs and has a balanced stereo output. Some kind of small mixer would do the job perfectly well.

Welcome to the forum. What you've added looks like a good approach. You've got some VCA channels available and that'll help with FMing the Rubicon. Don't dismiss 'digital' out of hand. It shouldn't matter (too much) whether something is built upon a given topology in most cases. If the tool does wh...

Noob thread - my first step into modular...

I've been producing music on and off for around 15 years, so I know my way around a synth, but I've decided to take the leap into eurorack. My reasoning is that I currently work mostly in-the-box, and I want a fully analogue monosynth that has some more interesting and unusual possiblities for sound...

Louis Cole is awesome. I've been waiting for his album to come out for ages! Anyone know when it's supposed to be released?
