Re: PSIM-1 Club

Hopefully Dave has assisted you with the Clock questions. Everything I've done with "clocks" in my PSIM have been analogue gates. And I took a very simple approach to those: scan the dacs if the clock input jack has a high voltage, jump out of this loop if it's low, jump back to scan the dacs I'll d...

Re: New Oakley rack module: ADR30

If one was to build an ADR30 as a "desktop" unit with the pots on the top and hand-wired back to the Main PCB, would those wires need special shielding?

If so, can anyone give me details that would help me find & purchase the correct type? (I'm a noob as far as special wires go)

thanks!

Re: analog delay in MU?

Tony - Speaking of the ADR30... at one point you talked about part of the circuit that added a little “wobble” to the clock ( or something similar) in order to give it some more vintage character. Is it possible to add a switch that would take out this part of the circuit and make the delay be as “p...

Re: What’s in your vintage poly synth setup!?

(used to have Xpander, Prophet 5, Microwave XT, Microwave I) Now I have a Juno-6, a Yamaha SK-30 and an Ambika. Just finished building (and easily my favorite poly-synth), my Oakleyheim Four Voice :goo: oakleyheim.jpg Made of Oakley ASV voices. Perfect SEM filter. Sounds friggin' awesome. Drew

Re: Tom Oberheim is back again

Can someone post more info about which capacitor we are talking about here? I've recently built an "Oakleyheim" Four Voice out of Oakley ASV modules. The VCF is a wonderful sounding SEM filter, and after reading some of the comments here I'd like to swap out the cap in one of the voices to see how i...

Yes indeed!

Not only excellent support, but excellent PCBs. My favorite to work on. And great documentation. And superb sounding!

Re: My next challenge - a Poly Oakley

They are Davies 1900 clones. Modular Addict, SynthCube and Small Bear have them. I used Dark Grey for the LFO Freq and the 3 LFO mod amounts I used Light Grey for the ADSR #1 pots and the 3 ADSR #1 mod amounts The rest are Black, except for the VCO2 fine tune and the VCF Freq. Those were for a 1/8" ...

Re: My next challenge - a Poly Oakley

Made a few demos. Recorded live (no overdubs but I chopped out all the time I took changing all the knobs!) with a bit of echo, but no other effects at all. (the filter can certainly create the impression that there's a phaser or flanger involved). Voices are panned. Headphones recommended! This one...

Re: Poly CV control

Thanks Kindredlost! I left out the patch points for two reasons: 1) This was designed for polyphonic playing, not as part of my modular. I just didn't see myself using them; it's enough to have to make every knob adjustment *four* times! Adding 4x patch cables would just be too much. 2) Cost. Eighty...

Re: Poly CV control

I second the recommendation for Yarns: Four voices of CV & Gate Several modes (Mono/Poly) and things like four different MIDI channels running the four mono parts MIDI pitch bend is injected into the CV (and you can set the range in half-steps) MIDI mod wheel engages an on-board LFO and is injected...

ASV Four Voice

I've been wanting an Oberheim Four Voice ever since I was in high school (1980) and when I first saw the ASV, I knew what was going to happen :-) My music budget is very limited, so I had to sell my TR-808 to fund this project. Now that I've spent some time playing my "dinosaur", I have no doubt tha...

Re: If you could only have one...

I have just finished my DIY Four Voice with four Oakley ASV voices (very much like a SEM, the filter being exact!) and I friggin' love this monster.
So with $3k I would get all the parts to build an Eight Voice (with ASVs) and an integrated MIDIBox Sequencer.

Re: My next challenge - a Poly Oakley

I am just finishing my Poly Oakley - actually I call it the Oakleyheim Four Voice.

Four ASVs and a Yarns. It is sounding awesome. My dream (since high school in 1980) of having a 4VS is coming to fruition :-)

Re: NEW DIY 909 DRUM MACHINE PROJECT

If you need a good "drum machine without sounds", build yourself a MIDIBox. I put 4 MIDI outs on mine, plus 8 triggers (you can have up to 64), as well as 8 voices of CV/Gate. You'll have yourself a fabulous drum programmer using just one of the 16 tracks. It's very much like the TR-606 programmer i...

Non-metal panels

I often use lexan for my panels, but another DIY person asked if not grounding the pots (via a metal panel) would cause noise issues.

I am particularly interested in whether it would be a problem on the ASV.

thanks!

Re: Need some hardware sequencer recommendations.

While I'm not 100% sure (because I've never used Ableton) of exactly what you want, if I understand what you're looking for I can say that the MIDIBox Sequencer V4 can do this. MBox has four Patterns that you can change independently, and each Pattern consists of four Tracks. Tracks have up to 256 s...

Hey diophantine, it looks like you've acquired a module I built... the "Pair O Slopes" :-)

Maybe the Lockhart wave folder is mine too? Can't tell by the picture. Cool to see them out in the world; I only made a few.
