Re: Studio Electronics Quadnic vs Doepfer A-111-4 vs 4x any oscillator

I had the Quadnic. Very interesting sounds but I hated it due to having to 'set it up from scratch' each time I turned the synth on and this was by no means a trivial operation. Quadnic can do poly fine but takes more prep time for tuning. There is actually a way you can get all 4 voices set up for...

Re: Studio Electronics Quadnic V2

If anyone is frustrated by the quadnic when setting up for chords heres the quickest way i've found to set it up: Turn it on, with osc 1 selected, turn every knob to 0 (counter clockwise) incl the mini fine tune & bank knobs. Select the all osc option (all osc leds lit), hit the alternate master mod...

Re: I/O between Eurorack <---> mono/poly

I had some questions about how to get euro to talk to a mono/poly. 1. Arp Trig in: I'm not sure what threshold I need to cross for this - does anyone know? 2. Porta in: I'm not sure what voltage of gate signal this requires 3. Trig in: My understanding is that I cannot send a 15V gate from eurorack...

Re: Integrating Pedal Steel into Eurorack

Not a pedal steel player but i suppose you might need to clarify what you want to get out of the modular. Do you want a synth accompaniment, eurorack effects box, something that will try n track pitches from the guitar? Offhand id say a sequencer would be handy to set tempo, play a pitched melody on...

Re: Did I misinterpret the PNW Quant function?

Nice trick! I'd been wondering about this same issue since I picked up a Pam's a couple months back but figured id just have to settle for its internal quantisation features.

Re: Prok Drum modules

I'll have another look but nothing special about the Pam's channel triggering the Prok CP. It was 4x modifier on ~140bpm, tried two trigger widths at 10% & 50%. No euclidean stuff or anything funky. And it was upgraded to the latest firmware. Bit of a strange one.

Re: Prok Drum modules

Wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue? Using PAMs with the Prok CP when I run a higher tempo sequence (140-150bpm) with 16th triggers on the CP it seems to randomly drop out a hit every now and then. Its kinda unpredictable when it will occur but it averages out about every 2nd or so b...

Re: Squarp Instruments Hermod Modular Brain

TBH I've had variable luck with 4 different VCOs trying to play chords, due to the variations they each have in tracking ranges, calibration etc. This seems to work best when you have a dedicated quad VCO or using multiple identical VCOs. I'd spend some time calibrating and working out the most stea...

Re: Squarp Instruments Hermod Modular Brain

Ok cool, thank you for replying. So do I need to change any settings in the midi menu other than making sure the midi in is transmitting on the appropriate channel? What about the allocator setting? Tbh I've always just left it as Poly cos that just makes sense to me. And I'm pretty sure that's the...

Re: Squarp Instruments Hermod Modular Brain

So has anyone else successfully hooked up a keyboard over midi into the hermod and played chords? I have tried but it doesnt really work for me. Anyone help me out with a step by step guide? Do it all the time with a usb midi keyboard, but its much the same for midi in. Hit track button to go into ...

Can sometimes go the other way—use a drum module as a filter.
You mean like sending audio rate signal thru the gate input or something else? interesting 🤔

Re: Today my small discovery was...

Ive been naively treating my drum modules as mostly self contained in that a gate goes in, drum sound comes out to either the mixer or an effect. Hadn't really considered using the various tools on hand to further shape transients. Anyway I was a bit frustrated that the attack and general timbral qu...

Re: Prok Drum modules

Hey there I just soldered a prok module, it works fine but its a little noisy, could it be because I soldered the 4 standing resitors in the same orientation ? Im using a doepffer a100 power supply, Ill try with my tiptop case tonight to see it is because of the rack power. I'm pretty sure the Prok...

What is the actual octave range of these modules? Can't seem to find a solid answer here. From the manual you'd assume 10 octaves. (0-10v) I built one recently and it seems to just crap out at the 6th octave and above My test method: Maths Output 2 to Penrose IN OUT from Penrose to V/OCT on Plaits P...

edit: Solved, turned out I’d mixed up the 3x 10ks with the 3x 200ks on the main board. Got a bit of an issue with my Burst module, curious if anyone else has encountered it. Everything seems to work as expected however the EOC and OUT channels both seem to produce a +1v offset if that makes sense. ...

Been building an o_c. Did the voltage tests and found I was getting nothing out of the 2.5v and 3.3v test points. After prodding around I think my adp150 is borked. It’s getting 5v in the VIN and EN pins, and ground is getting continuity, but I’m only reading around ~.016v on the VOUT pin. Is there ...

Its a tough one cos I feel everyone needs to find a process that works for them. For me personally I found that I couldn't readily pick up a half finished loop or project after the first couple of sessions, hearing the same stuff over and over again eventually killed any passion for the project I wa...
