Yeah, I made an assumption that many of us here have some flavor of daisy-chained ES devices, and that ya'll would know why I was asking. But fair enough! My original request stands: If others have done some work to get CV Tools talking to their daisy-chained ES devices and/or Silent Way itself, I'd...

I have not been able to find much good documentation for the Ableton CV tools. I also find that they frequently crash Ableton, but they are of course in beta. No longer beta, my friend! https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/control-your-modular-with-live-10-suite/ The built-in lesson reading that comes w...

!!

You don't use CV Tools with Silent Way, you use it in place of SW. Hi, jzwoopwoop. I was hoping that'd be the case, but then it occurred to me that Silent Way addresses outputs of daisy-chained modules (e.g. ES-5 and ESX-8MD in my case) by way of Gates 1/2, Gates 2/4, etc... and I don't see how you...

Indeed, skkatter, it'd be good to hear more about what you're trying to do. I'm not sure if you're saying that you're unable to get the envelope shapes you should be getting, or if the envelopes aren't driving the downstream actions in a way you'd expect (in which case batchas' question about your p...

Wow. These are really good. In the first three vids, the highest notes you play remind me of the violin on an early Tangerine Dream track that’s escaping me at the moment. Well done!

Hey, there. Thanks! Yep, it’s the Tektronix 466 storage scope (same one as in your avatar). One thing I was curious about (and had to check as I was writing) was whether the graphic on the R*S version also shows the Decay stage as linear on that middle switch position (it does). I don’t know if I wo...

Thanks for that feedback, Kent! And great point about including patch details in the video description to keep things moving.

And I completely agree about how things probably sound better on the system on which they were created.

Thanks again for your comments and feedback!

Serge sonic comparisons

Hi all, I put together an experiment demo-ing a groovy VCO/VCF/VCA type patch on the Serge, and moving the voice around to a few other synths to hear how each sounds. It's not meant to be a shootout by any means, but rather pursuing my curiosity. I thought others might find it interesting/useful too...

What a great thread! I've wondered about Buchla vs. Serge too and there've been some super informative responses here. Thanks for that! Hey, smitty.west, since you're leaning toward Serge, and STS at that, I'd strongly encourage you to consider the M-Class route. You may very well end up with many o...

ES-5: Breakthrough using only SW Sync

I still have a lot that I’m trying to figure out with the SW plugins. but after struggling with the ES-5 Controller plugin I accidentally discovered that I didn’t need it to do what I wanted — sending gates out via the ES-5. I did this using several stacked SW Sync plugins in ES-5 mode on one track ...

Success: ES-3 mk3 / Focusrite Clarett 8PRE / Ableton Live 10

I got the ES-3 mk3 working with the ADAT outputs on my Clarett 8PRE and Live 10, so I thought I'd post a follow-up to this thread for any other struggling newbies like myself. The Clarett 8PRE's ADAT outputs are numbered 13-20 , so just make sure those outputs are enabled in your Live preferences, a...
