What function is the S&H serving here? Seems like you'd get random gates with just noise into the comparator.

Re: Joranalogue COMPARE 2 - Dual Window Comparator
I got some nice results with the compare 2 with self patching: Was looking to find a way to have "rare random gates" from a 16th clock setting up a probability patch. Noise -> S&H -> Compare. It should fire very rarely, so the window size of the C2 is very small. What function is the S&H serving he...

Re: Sequencing Eurorack from Ableton Live
I'd love to have something like a metropolis in my rack but I'm trying to keep my modular budget under control. Of all the sequencers I've looked at online, Metropolis is the one that really stands out as being super-intuitive and fun...its downside being that it uses a lot of hp and cash for a sin...

Re: Sequencing Eurorack from Ableton Live
As someone who's been using DAWs for forever I find it much easier/faster to make or play in a sequence on the DAW than it is to purposefully write something on a Euro sequencer. It just is. However, messing around with an onboard sequencer can sometimes get you to interesting happy accidents; some...

Re: Sequencing Eurorack from Ableton Live
Sequencing is one of the things modular excels at, and is one of the most fun things you can do in modular. You don't need a sequencer module to make a sequence. You can make sequences out of many different pairs of utility modules.

Re: Are Powered Cases Too Expensive?
With a garage full of woodworking tools and a stock of birch-faced plywood, building cases and installing commercial power supplies is the best way for me to go. One doesn't require a wood shop to build a case though. You only need a simple handsaw, a drill, and a screwdriver. It's very, very easy ...

I'd recommend Ableton or Bitwig for this. Modular can do anything you want, but it is super expensive.

Doepfer A-155 & A-154 combo - I literally bought a set 2 days ago but am already blown away by how much fun it is to play, and all the unusual potential it has as a bulky, fairly traditional-looking sequencer. You’re going to want another pair before long. (Check out Steevio’s tutorials if you have...

Re: Making a "sequencer" with a clock divider and mixer
From my experience (so far) a switch will extend the length over which your sequence varies. The AND gate trick will make it more interesting, but it'll still be repeated over the same period. You could of course combine both... :hyper: Yeah and I actually am rethinking the OR since it passes the g...

Re: Making a "sequencer" with a clock divider and mixer
Been messing around with this too, and found a couple of variations no one's mentioned yet: Put two of the divisions into a switch before the mixer and toggle between them with the /8 from the divider, so you get alternating melodies/rhythms. Put /1 and /8 into a VCA or AND gate, so you get periodi...

Yeah, it's a huge amount of Vlad's typical BS marketing hype for a chaotic trigger generator. Easy enough to get similar results in modular. I don't see the appeal of this one.

I haven’t tried taking audio out into euro, but it should work fine if you take the audio from each drum’s out and send it to the mini jacks.droningspaghettimonster wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 4:54 pmHello! Does soma output eurorack levels to sample right into assimil8tor etc via minijacks?

Re: Making a "sequencer" with a clock divider and mixer
You don’t even need a clock divider with this method. Any set of overlapping gates or slow square waves into a mixer will give up a sequence. Just the other day I was doing this with a Takaab lfo into a Takaab mixer. How would you get pitched notes? I tried this and am only getting gates. What’s I ...
