Re: Norand Mono
construction is pretty good, though not a tank-- plastic case. sturdy buttons. metal knobs, yes metal, and they feel great, definitely not wobbly. some more thoughts now that i've dragged it into the studio and gone through the whole manual-- i really enjoy the workflow on this synth. successful no-...

Re: Recommend Hardware Compressor
I’m curious if the Elektron Analog Heat can take line levels without a direct box sort of thing? Like could I take straight from my euro output module into it? no, absolutely not. i have to turn down line level signals a LOT to not clip the inputs of the AH, and modular signals are significantly ho...

Re: Recommend Hardware Compressor
i think the old Overstayer "FET" comp was exactly made for what the OP wants. i have the overstayer "VCA" from that past line btw. What i saw is their todays product line entirely different now. ........and way more expensive. tho the OS FET is juicy af on drums, it is neither punchy nor does it ad...

Re: Skinny Puppy WHY?
And although Too Dark Park is probably my #1, I totally don't get why some people slag on The Process so hard. The whole "just skip over The Process" - I could not disagree more. Not only is a great album, but the same thing that might make it "skippable" to some is the same that might make it the ...

Re: Norand Mono
Just got mine a few hours ago. So far, this thing is amazing. First off, it's not a 303. Soundwise, more like a 101 with jetpacks and steroids. The X-Mod & X-Env is a gold mine of sounds. You think you want a sound and start programming and then it takes you to 10 other places. There will be compla...

Re: RME Fireface UCX on Apple M1 latency
Wow, this is exciting stuff. Glad to hear the pendulum swung in our direction for once. Usually seems like upgrading is nothing but misery, so happy to hear these reports that things appear to be working well on the M1 chips so far. well, not everything works, but rosetta has been solid for me so f...

Re: RME Fireface UCX on Apple M1 latency
ok i don't have an RME, but i do have the M1. i can say that stuff that used to make my 2015 quad i7 choke and crackle at 512 buffer is literally a 10-20% cpu hit at 64 buffer now. and that's with a lot of stuff running through rosetta still. it's a HUGE leap in cpu power. easily the biggest jump i...

Re: Can I get your thoughts on Reaper?
reaper is the most efficient DAW on the market and includes so many useful features to speed up various work flows. the midi stuff is nothing to write home about but for audio i feel like i have infinite channels of sound forge level editing depth. nothing ever takes long to open or render, batch re...

Re: First hardware compressor recs
depends on budget and application as mentioned above. personally i find a hardware EQ much more useful then a hardware compressor, esp. for electronic music. if the application is to process already recorded mixes, you may want to think about your conversion loop before you dip into expensive hardwa...

Re: transitioning to Apple silicon
Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to pay to be a guinea pig while developers figure this stuff out. And once again a bunch of software & plug-ins you paid for go obsolete on the Mac platform due to Apple's constant messing with the OS/hardware. lol right-- please apple don't shatter the CPU...

Re: Schmidt Eight Voice Analog Synth
If you wondered how many times they said, "no-expense-spared", it's four :foul: $24,000 for any synth, let alone a DCO synth? yeah, no whats wrong with DCOs? I mean, nothing "wrong" with them per se, but if you're going to call yourself a "true analogue dream machine", you better have some VCOs in ...

If anyone is on WATMM, the recreation of Autechre's 2008 LA show is finally finished. The backstory is, Autechre released the liveset sysex for the Monomachine and Machinedrum, as well as the Nord Modular patches and MPC-1000 projects. A couple of users on WATMM collaborated in painstakingly recrea...

Re: When do you think hybrid users will have more options for stable MIDI clock?
i've had stable midi clock for over a decade ever since i got an innerclock sync lock box around 2008. aren't there many comparable products today?? i can't even imagine trying to produce music without that thing.

Re: NEW DOUBLE KNOT
hey i just wanted to hop back in and make an observation, regarding the DK2's clock and attempts to use it to clock other devices. I found that the output from the full speed clock puts out a lower amplitude pulse than the two divided outputs. it's enough of a difference that the only clock outs th...

i hate to be the one to tell this to you-- but it seems like the problem is your headphones based on your troubleshooting tests. it sounds like the woofers are blown. try different headphones. and try a bassy sound on a different piece of gear into the beyers-- i think the same thing will happen. i ...
