Re: List of Voltage Ranges of Modules

I started maintaining a database like that, but reckoned it was too much effort for something which, for most applications, can be judged by ear. In the rare case precision matters you can use a scope or meter, consult the manual, or contact the manufacturer. They may even include the information in...

Re: Running out of power... what are my options?

Could you wire in another PSU to the same supply inside the case? I built my DIY case with four PSUs on the same supply. No single point of failure, dooj88 , and one switch. ;) huh.. wiring up these things and the necessary precautions/dos/don'ts is all greek to me, so i went the power for dummies ...

Re: has anyone else considered modular synths like this?

I think Pelsea nailed this sentiment above. These functions are not defined by the module, but how it is used in a patch. This, and I would add that a module can serve more than one function at a time. A trick I like is to have one voice FM/AM/sync another, but only occasionally - controlled by a V...

Re: Greatest electronic song ever.

Anyone have an idea of how Thomas Dolby created the sort of rising/falling drum effects at the tail end of this song (on the album, I don't think it was on the Single). Was he using a delay and adjusting it? I'm only hearing multi-tracked (possibly electronic) drums, but if anyone has specifics I'm...

Re: Self generating patches....tips and ideas ?

Here's my take on Divide By 64. The stars are Maths (natch) and URA as both sample and holds and noise source. Channel one of Maths is acting as the clock divider as well as the envelope and strike of the LPG (which I remove after 2 mins). The fluctuating CV is a 2hp LFO, FMed by the A/B output of ...

Brand new to euro (aside from some semimods). I just received a Maths. Ive gone over the manual and tutorials. I am now going through Demonam's patch guide. Is it normal to still have no idea how it's doing these things or am I dumb? tia (Are there other good guides to Maths people recommend?) Conc...

Re: Understanding random voltage

A bit of clarification of wording might help. Chaos isn't the same as random. It has a pattern, it's just too complicated to hear. It is there though, and that's why chaos sounds more "musical" than random. For instance, the Wogglebug's output is chaotic, but sample-and-held noise is random. So... R...

With starthief on this one. My 805 lives in the waveform laboratory section of my rack (MG link in sig). That decision was inspired by DivKid's video on the FSS Recombination Engine. Learning Modular also recently posted a video on the technique. Looking forward to trying luketeaford 's feedback ide...

I particularly like the idea of patching up the core structure with the power off.
Pretty much the default for me (at least with the volume down, not necessarily powered off). It's very distracting when you're trying to concentrate with "oooooooooooooooooo" going on in the background. :dizzy:

Re: Any experiences with the ALM Tangle Quartet?

Noob question here... Is it possible to treat the first three VCAs as a mixer (say you're mixing three oscillator tones) and then run the mix channel into VCA 4 (or filter and then VCA 4), using an envelope on it? Essentially, I'm asking if it can serve as both the mixer stage and the vca. Yes. :tu...

Re: Make Noise / Soundhack Telharmonic

Any favorite filters to go with Telharmonic? I'm partial to Three Sisters but would love to know others to consider. Filters kinda goes against the additive paradigm, although that's no reason why you shouldn't. I've found a LPG to be just right. MN's own LxD has yielded subtle but pleasing results...
