Re: What is the worst synth sounding you ever bought and why ?

Nord Rack. Jesus Christ. Filters on my Roland JV90 sounded better.
Korg Poly 800, for being Korg Poly 800.
Korg Triton, just something utterly desperate and dull oozing from every factory preset. Didn't had time to dig deeper though, as I borrowed it from a friend.

Re: Poll: Hardware Sequencer Options

I would like my sequencer steps (assuming sequencer uses sliders) to be musically quantized, with ability to set octave range, key and scale per step. Sometimes in sequence I want first 12 steps to be in A minor, and last four steps in D major, and I would like that option on per-step basis. Surely ...

Perhaps for the same reason piano strings are slightly detuned in the lowest and highest registers. Try googling "Railsback curve".

0 is "love" as in tennis game: Fifteen-love.

Hence, the Love Coast.

I'll keep repeating it until it becomes a standard. ;)
Love Control on the other hand..
Love Control is kinda kinky ;)

Re: What sparked your entry into eurorack?

Another voice for Make Noise. I dreamed of old Moog modulars and vintage synths, being prog rock fan. I'm more from the "rock" camp rather than "electronic music" camp, although my definition of rock includes Tangerine Dream's sequences and Brian Eno's ambients while "electronic" is more "dance" mus...

Re: Poll:Encoders — "acceleration" or select fineness

My preferred method is an encoder (or preferably a smooth knob) with simple modes, let's call them "8", "12" and "100" : octave selector in 8, coarse quantized semitones in 12 and +-50 cents in 100. LED indicators are more than welcome. My next preferred method is smooth full-range knob with frequen...

Re: IK Multimedia UNO analog monosynth

It's been more than a year, any love for this synth? I think they did a mistake in design interface; the machine is analog, but analogue purists might scoff at the appearance. Sound-wise (judging from tube videos) is okay but nothing to write home about. But. 20 tweakable parameters per sequence ste...

I would really like a Quad VCO with individual audio outputs per VCO, with 4 v/oct inputs and ONLY one set of frequency controls (tune, fine tune). Nothing fancy. Don't care about FM inputs or Sync inputs...just 4 oscillators which are always perfectly in tune with each other. No stacked chords, no...

To me sounds like stacked 3 oscillators to get a chord; tonic, third, fifth, mixed together and sent into an vca with an envelope with short delay/release. The waveforms themselves sound somewhat metallic, probably FM-ish, wavetables or even samples. Perhaps even analog waveforms with some chorusing...

I'm just going through the manual. Note on CV inputs and outputs: Pitch CV range: Octave 0-10V, -/+5V, Hz 0-10V. Reference note for Hz/oct could be set from C-1 to G9. Pitch CV offset from -99 to +99 cents. Source could be either keyboard or ribbon. Gate CV could be set to 3V, 5V, 10V. V-trig or S-t...

Why on Earth are oct ranges on synths with 2 VCOs different

You've seen this before. Analog synth with two VCO's and octave range selector reading in pipe organ footage: 32 16 8. Oscillator 2 will have a selector 16 8 4. Why? To extend the range? Fake a sub oscillator? I can't think of one redeeming quality of this layout that can not be covered with identic...

Basically, setup your computer and Max as a spectral analysis and transformation matrix CV generator (since you ...

I'm looking for a...thing that will analyze incoming audio and the complexity of it's waveform. Spectral analyzer, I suppose. What am I getting at: let's say you have a guitar on the input. I don't quite get it. It's perhaps that I see VCA as a fundamental block. Surely, if you have a VCA with input, CV input, and output, I suppose you can have a comparator on CV input but... It's like adding ADSR to a phaser module. Useful perhaps, even with the context of phaser. But I would expect a...
