On Rings and Clouds, I'd suggest you don't change modes too often, and explore each mode thoroughly before moving on. This maybe applies to Rings hidden modes more than the regular ones, as the regular ones all work much the same.

I found this technique very useful when I first got plaits.

If you have a fixed voltage module, run it into your audio, and send some cv, with the output controlling whatever. You could probably fake it with a square wave and a rectifier too (?)

For the few Doepfer modules with a horizontally mounted header, -12v is marked jp1 on every Doepfer module I own ( either horizontally or vertically oriented)

Yes, you can select the steps freely. It will still run clocked, but all 8 gate steps are on, and can’t be toggled.

Access this mode with button 3 pressed at power on. Make it persist through power cycles with buttons 3 and 4 held together.
