Re: Filtrex works in series but not on mixer insert (solved)

OK, thanks. Ill build up a cable when i get a chance (having too much fun playing at the moment!). Im amazed at how quiet my entire studio is tbh, theres a load of cables and old hardware. everything is remarkably clean.

cheers

Re: Filtrex works in series but not on mixer insert (solved)

Had a really good play with this again last night. Its really sounding superb! I think ive finally got it to how you intended it to sound! 909 hats into a swept bandpass filter sounds both lush and cutting at the same time. either the dodgy wiring, or the cheap nasty caps meant it didnt sound to its...

Re: pedantic sorting

Are we actually sure those aren't bumblebee caps, rather than carbon resistors? If they ARE caps, you are sitting on a treasure trove of guitar restoration bits. never heard of these before, theyre really similar looking! Might be worth buying a cheap component tester off ebay, i got one of these; ...

Re: rhythym wolf teardown: any questions?

Fascinating that a 'pro' product can go out with so many issues/cockups/design choices? how many people designed it ? just one, did no one check it? i think this is a good question, and not just related to this product. ive worked in product design for a long time at this point, and ive come to rea...

"Audio Output" connectors are detailed as MTA156 in column 3 but MTA100 in column 7. its clear anyway just thought id mention.

Re: rhythym wolf teardown: any questions?

yeah, i like the x0xb0x for its hackability, and the fact that all these people have put in time to make the firmware really good. but its at least 50$ to just get the case/panels/PCB, and thats not including any of the parts yet. and the case and buttons arent super nice. thats why i was hoping to...

Re: rhythym wolf teardown: any questions?

wow thats an incredibly complex hihat! ive played around a bit with the dr110 / 606 style ones and theyre so much simpler! Blimey. WHen you say digital noise is it like white noise, 909 style, or tuned squarewaves like the 606 etc? i cant make head nor tail of that schematic (not your fault, my unde...

Re: rhythym wolf teardown: any questions?

thats interesting. i think the x0xbox 'digital section' could make a brilliant base for synths. the sequencer, dinsync-midi-cv etc stuff is already done and solid (the maros firmware is brilliant) so potentially a 'whatever-heart' with the x0x sequencer as a wrapper would be awesome imo. ive been wa...

Re: Macro Oscillator in 5U (THT based on "Plaits")

is it a big deal to use twisted pairs for the audio? i assume not given the short distance, and i have had loads of problems crimping shielded cables before. Not had a chance to start mine yet, had a big unexpected bill land and so i havent had a chance to order the parts. I will try and do this asa...

neandrewthal did a big post when he finished him modular which had some info in re the jacks afair. have a search in DIY. Paul Krisp1 also has his K1 range which uses a silver border to delineate. Not sure if hes still doing them or just MUMU now? http://www.krisp1.com/store/images/krisp1/k1a.JPG

Re: I like my knobs...

im motm (at the moment!) but fwiw, its the spacing rather than the knob size thats important. Eg Tony uses both big and small knobs on his Oakley modules, and i find both equally good to use, as the spacing is proportional. when little knobs get crammed together (eg most euro) thats when i find it a...

Hooray for another Rhythm Wolf thread! The almost universal disdain makes it all the more fun to discuss. Gotta wonder if they'll be sought after in a few decades for the hate alone. Excited to see you digging into this, guest! I'm eager to see what you find regardless of any potential for modifica...

Re: rhythym wolf teardown: any questions?

Lol, this is infamous for being out of tune all the time and youve figured it out in minutes :hihi:

id be curious if itd be possible to get the triggers out easily. if this could also be a useful trigger sequencer, it might be worth the money? maybe.

thanks for sharing.

Re: Filtrex works in series but not on mixer insert (solved)

TBPH personally i feel the moog thing has been done to death. to the older ravers the roland filter(s) is the one. so many old records with 09, 02, 101, 106 etc. the cota just reeks of it and its fantastic. for me rack stuff is great as its out of the way, i have too many little boxes with wall wart...

Re: Filtrex works in series but not on mixer insert

all fixed, thank you. i had pin 3 and 1 mixed up on the output. it now works fine on an insert. i changed the 4 filter caps to 5% poly, measured the 10 i got and install the 4 closest. no idea if it helped but i had a component tester so thought i may as well. sounds excellent now. really really goo...
