Re: What can a module give you that no DAW can?

When the next version of whatever OS comes out, and half your software doesn't work AND you have to pay some upgrade or maintenance fee to make it all work again after six weeks of crippled production... Your modular will never stop working, and never ask you to pay a yearly subscription fee or upgr...

Re: The elusive 'all black' panel themed euro systems.

Holy Moly! That setup leaves me feeling... inadequate.

It also makes me want to give you my black Data just to take care of that...aberration.

Absolutely beautiful! Beautiful work.

Re: The elusive 'all black' panel themed euro systems.

Nonsense clutter or not, I would buy any black panel I could find for the following:
  • ZVEX Lo-Fi Junky
  • ZVEX Fuzz Factory
  • Joranalogue Generate 3
  • Intellijel Planar 2
  • Dave Jones O'Tool Plus
  • FoH Plague Bearer

Re: mannequins mangrove availability?

It's reasonable to assume that as more people get into eurorack, the more profit-oriented traders there will be. It probably seems like there are more now, but there are also more people in the eurorack market period. I bought a Mangrove last year for $225. It seemed like a perfectly reasonable deal...

Re: which Headphones for Bass-fun / Bass-enhancement ?

DT1990s are great for mixing, when you really need to be able to analyze the high end and make delicate adjustments. They absolutely have their use, but if you are listening to something for fun and pleasure, they would not be my first choice. I have a lot of headphones, most of them I consider tool...

Re: which Headphones for Bass-fun / Bass-enhancement ?

The DT770s have good low-end reproduction, but only to down to like 50-60hz. For about $200, the Massdrop/Sennheiser HD 58X are the best you can do, IMO. DT770s if you need a closed back. If you are willing to spend a little more money, the Audeze LCD2C (closed) will get you that octave lower that t...

Re: [IN STOCK] L-1 Power System.

If you DM L-1, he will get in contact with you to diagnose your issue. I had a similar problem recently (with a PSU that I bought used) and he helped me diagnose and fix my PSU within 48 hours.

He really stands behind his products and takes customer support very seriously.

Re: Color Coordinating Cables?

My cabling system is a little different than most. I only have cables in black, white and various shades of gray. I have maybe 15-20 cables in red. I think of cabling in terms of functions. I start cabling with white cables, which are the most obvious against my all black paneled system. As I decide...

Re: What’s in your vintage poly synth setup!?

My first synth was a Juno-106 that I got in 1984 (I think). I bought all sort of stuff over the following 20 years. At this point, I've actually sold everything except my Alesis A6 Andromeda.

Now, I'm thinking about getting rid of that.

I just have to say, this thing is incredibly stable. It's never more than a few cents off when I turn it on, and once tuned it doesn't drift. At all.

Obviously, you are looking for modules from x1l3 , specifically for the Shards: Is he even still making those? I tried to contact him about buying one and got no response (a couple years ago even). Yup. I bought a Shard off him a couple of months ago. just built a new batch. Cool thanks! I will try...

Please, please, I love the blue panel and its trim. I always appreciate when a maker has unique design, especially with some colour. Don’t let the black-out gang get you down. Keep the flavourful panels coming. None of us in the Black-Out Gang have ever asked (or even suggested) that they stop maki...

Re: Tendrils - right angle ultra-slim patch cables

I typically just order a ton of cables in whatever colors I need. But since I don't use Facebook , I'll just say that I would happily buy bags of cables that were black, any/all shades of gray, and white. The monotone allows a semi-uniform look while still allowing one to new connections or changing...

I get real finicky about my modulation sources. I love the idea of the Ochd, but I really wish that the LFO shapes were sines instead of triangles. Those Elby modules that EATyourGUITAR linked look really cool. I just gotta figure out how to get them with black panels (ah, shoot me).

Re: Introducing Tuesday procedural sequencer by TINRS

I frequently use Tuesday in my little testing skiff, as it allows me to have a single, reproducible point of generation for notes/modulations and triggers/gates. It is really good for testing stuff out new modules, especially when you aren't sure what to expect from them.

Replacement black panels for Intellijel gear are still kind of the holy grail for replacement panels. They are really hard to come by unless you find someone doing a small custom run. You might try getting some people together to do a group purchase. There are a lot of people out there wanting black...

My favorite filter (right now) is the Epicycloid Voluptron . It is a ladder filter, but uses tubes instead of transistors or diodes. It is completely demented. They still make them, but I haven't yet met anyone else that has it other than me (but then again, I don't get out much). Epicycloid also ma...

You can still find some of the discussions If you dig through the old threads. There was also resistance from some vendors; it was stupid af. Even if you just made some black replacement panels, I bet you would sell a good number of them. I would most certainly pick one up!

It never made sense to me that the Plague Bearer didn't have a black panel while the Sound of Shadows did. They invoke the darkness equally (I've checked).

I've got one, too. While, it certainly doesn't have all the functions of the Mordax DATA or the Dave Jones O'Tool+, it also costs a fraction of either of those. If you have a limited budget or you're a beginner who just needs a simple scope to learn synthesis, I think it really fills that niche. Bef...

I've made a comparison of my 292 clone (with handpicked Excelitas vactrols) and my Natural Gate for anyone interested. I've tried to match it as closely as possible. The Buchla is panned slightly to the left, the NG slightly to the right. Sound source is a Verbos Complex Oscillator. https://soundcl...
