i wonder who owns the ensoniq OS? i was thinking about it because sonic charge released an emulation of the yamaha TX16W running the custom os they developed and it uses the same processor, i think. you can still buy the wave boy effects from chicken systems. i'd pay to run them from an emulated sys...

what filter? 4035 4075? both? perhaps the ms20 kit was a test of their manufacturing line? tbh an unpatchable duo synth is not interesting to me. but i wouldn't be interested in a perfect recreation of an ra minimoog for 499 either. but there seems to be a market for them and this is a great one, so...

in terms of large multifunction sequencers, for step time i enjoy external ones more because wires. i want to be able to get at those knobs and buttons and some distance helps me. but sequencing is just modulation over time? if it was to your tastes you could get a bunch of sine waves, vcas and comp...

have you tried controlling the routing of your fireface this way?i i have a ufx coming in the mail and im super excited to use max to change the routing. should be wicked for rhythmic feedback or just effects routing. it'll be fun to do stuff like set it up to have certain notes or a series of notes...

when you disable the erase head how are you finding the noise because of biasing or lack thereof ? in my experience, the usually cheaper recorders that use a magnet only to erase and don't integrate the erase and bias have less noise when you disable their erase head. i have a 424 mkii with loops an...

you record to computer? how configurable is that focusrite? some of them let you (re)route the audio directly between the ins and outs. that plus a patch bay is nice and lazy. :) i use a mixer too for other reasons though. i used to have a few small ones/submixers but personally i was happier with a...

this nord modular logic article might be helpful, i've applied it to max so it should work fine for pd : http://www.cim.mcgill.ca/~clark/nordmodularbook/nm_logic.html an issue i run into with MIDI is managing the bandwidth and this has some useful ideas for that as well as asynchronicity being music...

rs7000, if too big rm1x

despite the name, monomachine can be interesting for this kinda thing. there are machines that can somewhat fake chords or you can use multiple tracks and play around muting them or changing individual arp settings or transposing which keeps it hands on.

I don't understand why Roland is not building upon the V-synth technology. IMO, it is the bees knees... My agreement could not possibly be greater. A new VSynth with DSP, improved sampling and better internal memory. Daaaaamn +1000 Memory is cheap enough these days. The V-Synth is a powerful machin...

how are any of these exciting, as it was done 30-40 years ago? Have you seen what they're doing at IRCAM? in the '90's even? this is a joke, why aren't they taking it further? I guess because too many, like yourself, just want a rehash of simple basic synths, too complex for you I suppose. Thus, we...

@ plogbidman yeah, i'd recommend just trying the a172. it's so small and cheap. :) i mean, if you don't find a ring mod too harsh or lo-fi i don't think you will find the a172 either.... regardless, it's a great utility, even if you don't use it for direct audio processing. seriously, check out the ...

i think you'd have a much easier time with 9u.. that isn't specific to a system without VCOs, i just think at 6u you fight between focus and "one note". even if you just did one row all multiples and passive modules. like, a gate combiner would be very useful. and you could have a 4th filter! i don'...

i don't have any vcos, but i have LFOs that go into audio rates. i don't have filters, but i do have slew, phaser and distortion/wavefolders. many modules will make sound when you run them at audio rates and there is a lot to do with gates, if you like to live dangerously. and yeah the pitch of feed...

A unit with a decent display is all I would like. I used to own a G2 along with the G1 I currently have and miss the LCD strips above the encoders a ton.
