Re: Westlicht PER|FORMER Sequencer (DIY)

Ok, I dug deeper through the manual and answered my own question in the Recording section. I think I'm going to add this to my system after over a year without a "battleship" sequencer. I was holding out for the Erica Black Sequencer, but I think I'll go with this instead. Now to try and find a bui...

my modular, an alesis ion, 2 pedals, a keystep and a drum machine into a small mixer. the focus is on jamming, not producing completed tracks.

Re: Module Recommendations for Clicky Percussion

interesting idea with samples. i'd have said a glitch CV source like vitznutcracker suite on o_c opening a vca or modulating a very snappy envelope decay/release. i haven't used it in a while, but i believe you can change the length so it's not as long and you get more predicable results, or at leas...

Re: Westlicht PER|FORMER Sequencer (DIY)

Well, here's my first attempt at showing partly how I use the Westlicht. My approach is going to be patch-based rather than a systematic overview, because 1. Anthurium has already done a really good job with showing the basics, and 2. I find that I can show bits of workflow and functionality a bit ...

though not directly applicable to OPs question as he does them in series rather than parallel (mixing) this video was great fun to watch and full of tips for more complex VCA applications

Re: Music you sort of get but can't get get into

Oh, and Thom Yorke's solo stuff. Radiohead is my favorite band of all time but I cannot get into Yorke's solo projects. I like the rhythmic aspect of a lot of it, but it feels so emotionally flat. Gives me the impression that Jonny Greenwood is the real soul of the band since I can listen to his so...

Re: Thoughts on Euro LPGs, please?

I really wasn’t a fan of the damping creature It freaks me out too. been watching to many spy movies, my mind immediately went to a rogue cia investigator at a black site, rather than some sort of malicious sponge. anyway, does the damping just attenuate the trig/gate going in? or is there somethin...

Re: Music you sort of get but can't get get into

i think there's something to be said about listening to music you weren't exposed to in your teens and twenties. in that formative period i listened to everything i could get my hands on. but now trying to get into new artists now is almost a chore. that's not to say i don't still explore what's out...

people still listen to/use presets?? there's that tired argument using presets is unoriginal and therefore ingenuine music, maybe that's where you are coming from? but as a starting point to tweak your own patch, or to demonstrate what the synth can do and provide a bit of inspiration for creating ...

Re: performer (or is it per|former?) sequencer build

one easy way to check if midi is working is to flash the testing hex, connect midi in to midi out (with a stereo 3.5mm cable) and then press buttons to generate notes (in the midi testing page), you should see both sent and received matching notes appreciate the tip! unfortunately i don't have much...

Do empty boxes spark joy? No? Mari Kondo them fuckers. this is an interesting social phenomenon to me. is it a reaction to our consumer driven lives, and a world economy sustained by churning out cheap shit for people? "if you don't like it, throw it away. you can always buy it again if you need it...

Re: Sampler for ambient / noise couch jams

Hmmmm - the Eurorack idea is essentially to have a very minimal single-rack case with maybe a couple of input options (contact mic and line, say), an EQ, something like Lubadh and some sort of line + headphone out. Maybe add some modulation or more sound-shaping options at a later date. And then ke...
