On the flip side, the Model D doesn't run the risk of being broken by an iOS update ;)
not sure if you’ve used behringer gear, but you never know, an iOS update may wreak havoc on their synth tool app lol. their firmware is shaky as fuck.

Re: Social Entropy Engine

Nelson, I worked summers at machine shop in Livingston. I’m a bit further north, top of the parkway basically. Anyway, bar length should be pretty much unlimited these days, but the fact that it isn’t in most machines leads me to believe that there may be some underlying microprocessro/ram coding i...

Re: Favorite FX units for drum machines?

It's a shame that the OTO boxes cost so much. I really want to own a Sherman Filterbank again. I've owned the original and the Filterbank 2 and it's definitely my favorite go-to for drums ever, but at the moment out of my price range. I kinda want to stick to guitar pedals for now since they are so...

Re: Social Entropy Engine

I wouldn’t mind longer pattern length either, but there is one thing you can do: you can slow down each track so it plays 2x or 4x slower, which for melodic slower chord type sounds works just fine. I still have to look up a few of the functions, but mostly I can just jam with it now and it’s a bri...

Re: Social Entropy Engine

really - there aren't very many powerful analog style step sequencers available. How many of them have 8 bar pattern lengths or longer? im not sure how many there are but obviously not enough. im of the opinion that every step sequencer should offer that. doesn’t matter if its a drum machine or mel...

Re: Social Entropy Engine

pattern length maxing out at 4 bars really grinds my gears. not sure why at least 8 isn’t industry standard yet. if you’re reading this that means you too elektron.

its still a great machine and i would probably pre-order an mk2 unit depending what improvements or changes were made.

seriously, i'm bored with all these analog subtractive monosynth reissues. well.. as tired a synth enthusiast can be living in a second golden age of new products anyway. would just like to see a some more risks/fresh takes. there's some seriously cool fucking VTSs out there, wrap em up in a custom...

ok, i got the tr8s today, but i did not sell the machinderum yet.. i wanted to wait and compare. i just compared the kicks.. i have to say that i use two tracks for the kick on the machinderum. and what shocked me is that the kick drums i can do with the machinderum are WAY way way better than the ...

Re: Favorite Multitimbral VAs?

I'd also like to give a nod to the Novation Ultranova which has a massive amount of programming strength, some pretty unique FX implementations, and pretty painless editing similar to a Ensoniq esq1. Sadly (and sort of critically IMO) it's a monotimbral synth. I hope they bring back the Nova series....

It always sounded fine the way it was. It has its own charm. Yeah, I later pulled it out and found some stuff I made in the memory, and decided I don't want to change the samples. It can also sound pretty cool if you layer another drum machine on top. its a cool box just the way it is. if you like ...

Re: Behringer clone of SH-101? MS-101

I really wish Behringer would do a module version with buttons to input steps instead of keys. I hate the keybed and it would be ace if it was smaller i really wished they would’ve just mimicked the originals sequencer verbatim. it was literally perfect just the way it was. a huge oversight and a m...

Re: Behringer clone of SH-101? MS-101

I personally couldn't be happier with my MS-1. To my ears there is definitely something different about it compared to the SH-101 I had years ago (probably the aforementioned snappiness of the envelopes) but overall it does a darn good job and for the price how can you complain? I got mine used for...
