Re: Lead forming

I use the plastic tool for components that sit flat on a PCB. I've done a number of builds where the resistors sit vertically, I use a pair of rosary pliers for the 180 degree bend on those.

Re: Problems with SV-1b & 0-Coast tracking each other

Both MIDI and CV apply to the 0-Coast -- so if you play a MIDI note into it, then "switch" to using CV, it'll just stack the CV on top of the last MIDI note played. You can power off and back on to reset it, or send it MIDI note 0. You can also do a reset by holding one of the program buttons for a...

Re: DIY Mutable Unsuccessful Builds

I just finished building Clouds, it was the full kit from synthCube. I just powered it up, the only thing that happens is all 4 LED'S across the top light up and stay lit, nothing else is functional - pushing buttons, turning pots has no effect. Put an audio signal in, nothing comes out. Tried CV s...

Re: Rack Rash

Maybe someone will realise there is a gap in the market: instead of buying a grey scale version of your module's faceplate, you buy a 'distressed' version. That's commonly available for electric guitars - brand new instruments deliberately treated to look like 40 years of heavy on-the-road use. And...

Re: Xaoc Batumi + Poti 2016 batch

Dismantling that header must have took plenty of force, which should be an indication that something isn't right. Not necessarily. I've built several modules from kits, had a few occasions where the pins in a header could be pushed out with light force; they wouldn't fall out on their own but they ...

Re: Xaoc Batumi + Poti 2016 batch

Hmm ... apparently not. You just dismantled the pin header by taking off the plastic piece that keeps pins together. Please use a real jumper, this thing obviously does not offer any conductivity. You know, every firmware update guide says to "take a jumper from the waveform select cluster". The on...

Re: Props to analogue haven store

Shawn was having trouble keeping up with things because of COVID-19 shutdowns. I had placed an order back in mid-April, got a confirmation the same day, then never heard anything more. Sent him a couple of e-mails, finally heard from him late May, my e-mails had "fallen through the cracks". He said ...

Re: Intellijel Quadra cycling way too fast?

Just a wild-ass guess - there's a pin header on the Quadra for plugging in the Expander when you use it. If the Expander is not being used, there are supposed to be jumpers across these pins. When you re-installed the Quadra, could you have mistakenly plugged the power cable into the Expander header...

Definitely with high resonance, it really adds character. Just wondering if little to no difference below say 2 o’clock is normal.

I was trying to go pro as an orchestra cellist back in the day. I tried out loads of instruments before I found one that I really liked. It wasn't the most expensive I tried but it wasn't cheap. It cost me about $6400/5700€ in todays money. My bow cost me another $2300/2000€. $2,300 for the bow!!! ...

Re: iPad Oscilloscope app & interface recommendations?

I use the FaberAcoustical SignalScopePro on my iPad with a Behringer UCA202 interface. Works fine for me. I bought it several years ago and I think now Faber doesn't sell it outright, you have to "license" it on a yearly basic - not real sure, you'd have to check. BTW, I also have a real oscilloscop...

I'm only going to be faffing around with a couple of passive "point to point" projects. I don't fancy getting into all that PCB stuff and connecting to live voltages.

Ready-made boxes are available from most electrical and electronics houses, you just have to find a size that works. Front Panel Express offers custom boxes, I'm not familiar with the details, you'd have to look into it.

Post-It Notes material. You can buy the regular square or rectangular pads and cut them up or you can by the tabs and use them. They used to make a correction tape-style material in 1-line, 2-line, and 6-line widths but I haven't been able to find it for about 2 years now.
