BTW, have you considered using it for making PCBs?

Re: Doepfer DIY kit power supply dead- replacement thoughts?

Sorry you've lost me - where is the PTC fuse which the previous poster mentioned he replaced if not in the power supply? I may have put too big a load on it - I fairly recently added another module, filling my 9U case (though there are a few physically large modules in there). I haven't calculated t...

Re: Doepfer DIY kit power supply dead- replacement thoughts?

Sensible advice. I don't see any sign of a fuse so perhaps a straight replacement is required.

Re: Doepfer DIY kit power supply dead- replacement thoughts?

Bumping this... I opened up my power supply and I don't see any fuse, just a big transformer. Not to keen on poking about in there though obviously I have disconnected it from the mains. Is there any chance that it will retain charge? I tested the fuse in the A-100 kit and continuity is fine. Also t...

Re: Doepfer DIY kit power supply dead- replacement thoughts?

Thermal fuse? Inside the power brick itself? Mine has just gone. I expect due to the extreme heat here in the UK at the moment. Where did you find a replacement?

Doepfer replacement transformer is 50 euros, ouch.

Re: performer (or is it per|former?) sequencer build

Has anyone tried removing the caps from the sequencer buttons? I would like to change the colour of my top row of buttons, but I am worried about getting the caps off without causing damage.

Re: Budget Ambient / Techno Drumbox

If you can live without the multiple outputs, the ik uno drum is the best budget solution by far. This is actually a brilliant bit of kit. The six analog drums on board sound really good (unlike some of the more expensive competition) and there are six more slots for sampled drums. Also there is a ...

Re: Source of 808-type led switches, or other usable ones?

Interesting - I don't know that site, must have a look through it. I found some very nice Omron ones elsewhere with built-in LEDS and translucent tops but they are expensive. As most of these seem to have the LED circuitry separate from the switch I will probably look at unilluminated switches with ...

Source of 808-type led switches, or other usable ones?

Hi, I'm exploring hardware options for a sequencing circuit. Any recommendations of mechanical switches with LED status? I'm interested in 808/prophet style ones with an LED window. Aware of Cherry keyboard style options. What about square ones with translucent tops and internal LEDs? I found a few ...

Re: Making some patch cables, and

Yeah, I ordered a pack of Neutriks. There weren't so many options for 3.5mm jacks. I found some Rean minijacks on StudioSpares which look similar to ones on the Van Damme site. On the Van Damme site they were something like £1.20 each. On StudioSpares 6p each. So I ordered quite a few of those...

Making some patch cables, and

I got a basic patch bay to help organise my routing options. I'm thinking about making my own patch cables - can anyone recommend good UK suppliers of audio cable and jacks? Which solderable jacks would you recommend? It's a 6.35mm TRS patch bay (dbx) not bantam. One of the main things I want to use...

Re: Dervish: 12HP FV-1 euro FX

Taking a closer look, the individual FXAid programs are stored on the server in .spn format, but they are not downloadable, except as a wav file which the app generates from the user's selection of programs. (The wav file is used to update the module via the CV input, rather than using a cable to fl...

Re: Dervish: 12HP FV-1 euro FX

I see there is another FV-1 based FX module which is proving very popular: http://www.happynerding.com/category/fx-aid/ It has a nice app for compiling firmwares based on a selection of effects. https://fxaid.app/ I wondered if these programs might also be loadable into the Dervish? (I have a uDervi...

Re: New AKAI "FORCE" standalone MPC / grid controller

Not talking for thomachine but I also use this feature. It's just a compromise to bring down the file size of the program because there isn't a sample per note. The sample playback interpolates inbetween sampled notes. For some patches sampling every few notes doesn't make much audible difference to...

Re: Miasma: Function Generator (DIY PCB based on Befaco Rampage)

I'll check mine later - I tend to use the left hand side of the panel and augment with options from the right, so it's quite possible I simply haven't used the right side EOC. At the same time it is not the most straightforward module and not always intuitive what the expected behaviour should be. W...

Great stuff. Post some sounds too if you get a chance. Or share your axoloti patch! Did you hand-solder the leds for the encoder displays, or get them fabbed for you? Any problems with bleed through from neighbouring leds, or is that not a priority? You are clearly a good project manager to get it t...

i too wish this had a battery.. but wouldn't want it to get any bigger or heavier. this form factor, with the new hardware buttons (very mpc1000) and the addition of cv/gate is looking mighty appealing to me. not that familiar with the state of akai's touch OS - assuming it's pretty stable/robust t...

Re: Akai MPC One

I love my MPC Touch and I like the look of this. What I would really like though is if AKAI would add some more innovative uses of the hardware, so that there are more experimental modes in the MPC software. For example if they looked the monome community and some of the grid apps there which allow ...
