Re: Bitwig + ES-4 issues

Thanks, OS. I definitely thought I was 100% sure, but... When you insert a new track, it defaults to -10dB, and moving the slider from there to 0.0dB doesn't properly reset it so that the ES-4 will work. In fact, you'll notice that it reads -0.0dB, and while the difference of that negative is neglig...

Re: Bitwig + Silent Way ES-4 Error

For anyone who finds this later when searching for the same issue: When you insert a new track in Bitwig, it defaults to -10dB, as Nik suggested. The thing is, though, that simply moving the slider to 0.0dB doesn't properly reset it so that the ES-4 will work. In fact, you'll notice that it reads -0...

Bitwig + ES-4 issues

Hi, everyone. I've just picked up an ES-4, and I'm seeing some issues in Bitwig. I'm driving it from the spdif out on a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6. When I use the ES-4 controller in Reaper, it seems to work as expected. When I use it in Bitwig, though, there's a ton of crosstalk or something between the...

Bitwig + Silent Way ES-4 Error

Hi, everyone. I've just picked up a Silent Way ES-4, second hand, to use with my modular. When I use the ES-4 controller in Reaper, it works exactly as expected. When I use it in Bitwig, though, there's a huge amount of crosstalk between the channels, unless I run it out of an effects channel, in wh...

i have visions of sludge metal tracks made with my modular but somehow dont get very far. guitars and oscillators have almost nothing in common! Man, tell me about it. I got into modular as an extension of sludge and drone metal, leading to noise, and I'd love to bring some guitar feel back into it...

My library has a little laser cutter as well, and I've tried a couple of different things for faceplates. My first shot was 2mm acrylic, which worked ok, but I had trouble dialing it in so that it wouldn't scorch, and over time, the panels cracked at the screw mounting slots. I used clear acrylic, w...

Ah, I think I'm understanding it now. So the actual control voltage output of the main unit doesn't have any effect, only the binary states of the first five bits. These correspond to the pots on the voltsThe pots on the Volts then attenuate the binary signal, and the output of the expander is the s...

Music Thing Volts - Wait, what is it actually doing?

Hi, guys. I'm pretty embarrassed to admit this, but I don't seem to be able to get my head around what it is that the Volts expander for the Turing Machine actually does. Can some friendly person give me, like, an elementary school primer on how it's generating what it outputs, and how it relates to...

Thanks, everyone. So, it sounds like what I'm looking to do is to decrease current to the vactrol, correct? If I understand the schematic (that's a big if!), the trimpot is there to do just that, but it's not going quite high enough. If I put a smaller resistor in place of the one that's parallel wi...

NLC LPG - Frequency Pot Tweaks?

Hi, Guys. I've recently built an NLC LPG v1.1. It really sounds fantastic, but I feel like I need to tweak the freq pot value or something. As it is, in filter mode, the cutoff frequency goes from inaudibly low to inaudibly high over maybe 1/8th of a turn of the pot. Nothing audible until maybe 1:00...

Thanks, Trip. Yeah, I've used the same values for the leds and resistors. To be quite honest, I wasn't sure what resistors to use for them, so I just popped some 10Ks in there at random -- maybe the value I chose is such that it highlights the slight differences in the two parts of the circuit or so...

NLC Dual LFO LED Weirdness

Hi, guys. Just assembled an NLC Dual LFO, and am noticing something weird. The LED on the left side doesn't dim fully on the low part of the cycle, probably fluctuating between 70%-100%. The right side does just what I'd expect, fluctuating from 0%-100%. I haven't measured the actual CV output volta...

DIY Oscilloscopes - Worth a Damn?

Hi guys.
Are any of the $40 DIY oscilloscope kits out there worth a damn? I see a thread here about converting one to Eurorack, but I'm mostly just looking for a standalone one that does the trick reasonably well for CV and Audio.
Thoughts?
