Re: Pots on Manis Iteritas Magnus as attenuators?

people always look at me weird when I say I don't like euro panel conventions even with noise engineering stuff, but this is a great example. What the heck is a SMASH input? What a worthless label. The label should convey the function. Let's see what the manual says? Hmm... Screen Shot 2020-11-23 at...

It’s quite strange to start from multiples and att’s but filters can be unique
true, they really should have started with something like the Emerson Dagger Distributor like other successful vendors

Re: Dear Audacity: please die. Horribly.

the workflow is not unusual, I also only use a multitrack recorder similar to audacity (I use PreSonus Studio One). It's because the DAW does not run on the computer doing the recording. The DAW is running on an Atari It is not free and it doesn't do everything Audacity does but it works for me. I d...

I like the horizontal layout but realistically I would put garbage and paper plates on the console

I'm just going to be totally honest about it

What can you tell me about removing psychological blocks like this? Step 1 is not to assume the problem is purely psychological. If you don't know enough about electrical safety and it's bothering you, the real answer is to learn a little bit about electrical safety and ensure your setup is safe. W...

Re: update on Blacet kits migration to synthCube

I don't see a problem with using 1% tolerance resistors. The 5% tolerance parts for the most part just have a wider variance and it's certainly possible for a module assembled with some 5% tolerance parts to sound exactly the same as a module assembled with all 1% parts. The variance of the 5% parts...

I wish they'd mass produce this and ship it at a much, much lower price.
it can't be mass produced due to the lack of availability of ym2612 chips. You'd need an fpga reimplementation of it to mass produce, not real chips

Re: PNW Unstable MIDI Clock Solution ? (MPC 2000)

my first thought is I don't think the MIDI clock coming out of the MPC 2000 is unstable. And my second thought is I never have to worry about this because my beatstep pro can convert midi clocks and cv clocks in both directions easily

I bought a gun from RifleCube, put it together and it would not work. I checked and Checked, and eventually I shot myself in the foot. Re: Best FM module?

I can't imagine another module being better than an FM Aid. I suppose you really need more than one FM Aid to do some of the things the fancy fm oscillators can do. An FM Aid can do some weird things too, though. Let's say you have a pot that produces a DC output and feed that output to the carrier ...

lightning strike would be hitting something, maybe a tree? Probably do some wood cracking noises with a couple oscillators and some noise followed by the thunderclap a few milliseconds later
