Looking for a decent midi controlled drum module

I'm looking for a decent, inexpensive percussion synthesizer that can make snappy analog sounds but doesn't have all the seq/groovebox xox stuff. I already have a hardware sequencer so I just want to trigger one-shots. It doesn't have to be analog but should have some good sound sculpting possibilit...

Does anyone make a decent analog console anymore?

In the late 90s I had a Tascam 24 channel 4 bus mixer that has great pres and eq - nothing immaculately transparent but it had character. I forget the model though.... For 15 years I've just summed and mixed in the box. Now I have some more outboard again and am looking to go back to the old days. I...

How do most people use QY series sequencer?

I just picked up a QY-700 for a good deal. It's really nice to work on so far and I'm really enjoying its power. Just curious - is it designed to be used with the built in phrases? There are only 99 slots for user phrases while there are like 4000 built in clips. How do most people use it? Do you ma...

Re: What is the CV voltage of an Oberheim Xpander?

Thanks,

Can I damage my shared system if I plug in the wrong voltage? Or will it just not track correctly?

What is the CV voltage of an Oberheim Xpander?

I am thinking of gettin one and need to know how I might interface it with my Make Noise Shared Sys. Thanks!

Marketing from Bandcamp orders list

Wondering how you feel about this. I have a handful of sales on Bandcamp where the purchaser didn't sign up to be added to the email list. I have about three times that number of sales. So only 30% sign up for the mail list. By default the option to add to mailing list is unchecked. So a lot of peop...

How does the fact that he's not directly controlling the motor enable him to change the speed of it. Are you saying that there is perhaps some amplification like a transistor after the pot?

I see.

I've seen some videos where a CV is just patched right to the motor and it works. Like this:

or this:

Is this because he's still using the Walkman's power or is it a motor with lower resistance?

Having Trouble Powering DC motor from CV

New circuit tinkerer here with no real prior experience. I have a DC motor that runs as expected from a AA battery but I want to power it from a patch cable coming from a Make Noise module. I stripped one end of the patch cable and measured the voltage coming from it and it corresponds and changes w...

MN Pressure Points, Brians and Gate Output

I recently installed Brains and it seems to turn PP gate outputs to toggle rather momentary gates. Is there a way to make PP gate function the way it did (momentary) before I got Brains?

Sorry, I'm asking if it's possible to do this with the shared system - without purchasing an additional switch.

Sorry if the example I provided is confusing. What I mean to do is switch from one CV to another with the same destination.

Make noise shared system - switch possible?

Is it possible to switch an input in the shared system? Like send the top row of pressure points to 1v/oct on DPO then switch it to the 2nd row of pressure points?

Teletype Vs Rene

I am generally into generative systems and Rene, despite it's capabilities is still to static and predetermined for my tastes. I am comfortable with coding and Teletype looks really cool. Does anyone think it could replace Rene? Also, I'm out growing my shared system case with the CV bus. Does anyon...

cassette 4-track with CV inputs for tracks volume?

Does anyone do this type of mod? I'm adequate with a solder iron and I don't imagine it's overly complex. if anyone knows of this type of mod and where i might find info that would be helpful, i'd be grateful. also, i might gladly pay someone to do it.

thanks

Tuning modular to base note and live musicians

I have a Make Noise System that I've been using more and more for live performance. One thing that has been problematic for me is the sensitivity of the freq controls, tuning live with other musicians and how the frequency correlates with Rene's CV output. It is fine if you are doing a solo performa...

Why not get a brains for pressure points? By sequencing PP very slowly and maybe slewing its outputs you get three channels of slowly changing voltages that can be put to good use in generative compositions. You could for example use one PP channel to automatically change states on Tempi while anot...

Looking for something "generative" to replace pres

I have a Make Noise Shared system that cam with pressure points, but I really don't use it much as I prefer to set up self generating systems that don't require any human intervention. Can anyone recommend something that could replace it that has either some powerful modulation/clocking possibilitie...

Tempi questions

On the MN Tempi - Is there a way to randomly change tempo? The CV in only changes the states but I want slight, slow, random tempo modulation.

Also, does anyone know how to change the Pulse Width? The manual says it's possible but it isn't documented.

Thoughts on Cassette Releases?

I never realized people were releasing to cassette until a friend approached me and wants to release some of my music on cassette. It seems like a pretty cool medium, portable, cheap and sounds pretty good. But is this just a passing fad? Or has it already passed? Or do you think it has a future lik...

I've spent some more time with it, mainly using it as a master insert. Well, I would say it adds some "glue" to things. I also A/B'd a bounce through the AH on "Clean Boost" to disk against another bounce straight to cassette tape. I prefer the cassette tape bounce as it has a lot more character. Of...

Having trouble liking my Analog Heat. Thoughts?

I want to like it - I really do. I originally wanted something to warm up my mixes. I read many reviews, the AH manual and made what I thought was an informed purchase. But for some reason I cannot seem to say "oh yeah" about anything that comes out of the AH. First of all, the signal out seems real...
