Re: Dreadbox - Typhon

sometimes my encoder is stuck, jumping back and forth between two neighbouring values regardless in which direction i rotate the knob …
anybody else observed that behaviour?

[edit] turned out to be a super rare condition and the amazing dreadbox support took care of it.

the tuner works best with clean waveforms (pure sine/saw/square). feeding it complex waveforms with lots of overtones causes the display to flicker.

running danger to state the obvious: did you try feeding it something clean? does it still act up when doing so?

probably has to do with the input CV levels.
i believe the disting expects -5v - +5v.
if your random source outputs 8v or even 10v, you are hitting the lower and upper end more frequently.
did you try attenuating the random source's cv before going into the disting?

i'm in the process of giving all my modules some tlc. has anybody ever attempted to calibrate the kermit? obviously, there are trim pots for 'a-scale' and 'b-scale' on the back of the module. but what would the procedure exactly look like, i wonder? also, i have terrible bleed from section a on sect...

sounds more like a formatting issue to me. in those cases more often than not it helped me to go back to the computer and with a disk management tool of choice create a new master boot record and format the card to fat.

with some folder maintenance and naming conventions, this is not interfering in any way. for example i gave all wavetable folders the prefix "wavetable_xxxxxx" and all sample folders the prefix "sample[n]_xxxxxx" where [n] is a number. that way the wavetables are at the end of the list and i have co...

with combining triggers, the danger is more, that you shoot back voltage into an output, which is potentially problematic. as far as i understand makenoise secures its modules against this. i would assume they also did it with the 0-coast. but as always, in doubt, ask the manufacturer. nobody here w...

Would prefer it AC coupled, but DC is cool too. Just wondering …

i remember i somewhere read that it references the voltage of the gate signal with the sustain stage.

a 3v gate signal will result in a fairly low sustain level. 8v signal probably on 100% …

bear in mind, this behaviour is working on CV (signal high/low) only and does not affect the button behaviour.

Just been watching 2hp Pluck videos. Come on OS, you can put that in there ;) x There is a resonator already (C5) but i guess it differs to Pluck/Rings as it doesn't sound much like those. Got some decent karplus going with the clocked delay — a few more modules needed though (oscillator for audio ...

regarding the reverse delay mentioned earlier here: is it not just a fine tuning of delay time, feedback and mix like in the little sketch below? to emulate a behaviour of the pedals shown in the video posted as example, you would need a second, longer delay to repeat those clusters (take that disti...

a little test with sync and uneven clock divisions (set on startup to be divided by 3 which is rather musical > 3/2 or 3/4). additional multiplication change and hold are rhythmically triggered by a clock divider. note on every fourth trigger, click on every second as reference. [soundcloud u...

could you make it so long mode is the new regular, and the new long mode is twice as long & twice as lofi? but this would sacrifice the possibility of super short glitchy delays … please don't make it default. ;) maybe a super secret handshake mode select on bootup. i like it exactly as it is now …

while having some quality time on the modular over the holidays i noticed a feature digression in the recent firmware update. favourites work fine in one session (switching from O1 to O2 to O3 etc), on reboot you end up on the actual algorithm (e.g. K1) and have to noodle your way all the way to the...
