Re: Erica Synths Black Sequencer

I don’t have Steppy so can’t really comment on that. But I use a combination of ESBS (melodic), PNW x2 (clocks and modulation), Tete/Tetrapad (macro controls, modulation), Assimil8or (looper) and Robaux SWT 16+ (Triggers) all synced together. I use one of the PNWs as the master clock for all of this...

Re: Erica Synths Black Sequencer

I am currently having difficulties getting PNW, Varigate 8+ and Euclidean Circles to work nicely together. I cannot get the reset behaviour of V8+ right with Pam as the master, and V8+ as the master does not reliably clock Euclidean Circles. :bang: So I am thinking of getting ESBS instead of Pam an...

No, not at the moment. Would be a cool feature.

Yippee! - mine is on the way (now the long wait for it to be delivered to Atlantis).
You live in Atlantis? I thought that sank in to the ocean 900 years before the reign of Solon or something like that.

Re: Yet Another Newbie - Feedback on Controversial Rack Please

If you are going to go in this direction then invest in the tools required to make your own ribbon and flying bus cables. They are not expensive and available on Amazon. I say this having built a case with 20 Erica Synths Pico modules in a Moog 60 HP case. I call it my Pico Mom - do a search And you...

Re: Fine-tuning my rack for looping random

Pams can loop a random S&H without the need to send a reset (use the loop setting). With the quantizer and level settings (for octave range) you have what you need. If you want to add a module to make it more tweakable, consider the T43 Adder by VPME, this would enable you to shift the sequence up a...

Re: Julia Bondar live eurorack setup

I came across this video the other day and watched the whole thing. It really is an excellent video and strongly recommended. I find videos like this to be very interesting and this is one of the deepest I have seen. Given how configurable a modular setup is, it’s fascinating to see how someone else...

Re: Metropolix vs Erica Black Sequencer

Sequencer choice, particularly battleship sequencer, is clearly a very, very personal choice and is very dependent on your own workflow and mental model for how things should work. Realistically you can great results from both the Meteopolix and Black Sequencer, same is true of others out there like...

It would be great if the per step arp conformed to the overall channel scale quantisation.
And the CV Note tracks. I think this is an issue with fact that quantization is presequence, not post sequence which has been discussed earlier in the thread.

Re: Finding a “modular” DAW?

I appreciate all the suggestions! So far Plogue Bidule seems to be pretty close to what I am aiming for and currently working my way through its manual and tutorial videos. What I like about it is: 1. Super simple UI, which is patching oriented 2. No timeline/ transport (unless you want it) - it’s t...

Re: Fold Case - Low cost aluminum Eurorack case

You need to let people know that the basic 84HP case (with rails and threaded inserts) is only $75. Which seems like a steal when compared to the 4ms 64X at $90.

Thanks to both of you. Kyma is probably a little out of my price range, but these two certainly seem like good fits, particularly Bidule which seems suitably simple, yet powerful.

Re: Finding a “modular” DAW?

Well, you really got my hopes up. Audiomulch looks exactly like what I want. The bad news is that it was last updated in 2016 and the current version is 32 bit so doesn’t support Catalina or Big Sur.

Anyone know of something similar that does work on OSX?

Finding a “modular” DAW?

I have tried playing with several DAWs (Ableton, Logic, Bitwig) and generally find them to be extremely uninspiring. As a result I really don’t record much of the music I make on my modular and when I do, it’s mainly just to stereo on a Zoom H4N. However, I think there is a place for the computer in...

Re: Metropolix vs Erica Black Sequencer

The Black Sequencer is extremely hands on. The big knobs, random features and intuitive layout make it a great performance oriented sequencer. I sold my Metropolis after getting the Black and wasn’t that impressed with demos of the new one. 2 tracks seems very limiting. The Westlicht is great too an...

Re: Recommendations for simple tools to clean up improvised recordings?

Here’s an example live track that I captured to stereo. The only processing I applied was a brick wall limiter to conform to the LUFS standards for sound cloud. Producing tracks this way is all about committing to the balance and mix at capture rather than editing afterwards: http://soundcloud.com/...

Re: Erica Synths Black Sequencer

There are no standards in Eurorack other than 1V per octave, but even that doesn’t specify what octave you are in. Every VCO has a different range it can track over and handles incoming CV differently (eg some can handle bipolar, others can’t). It’s also dependent on what the tuning knobs do too. So...

Re: Adding modules to Moog M32/DFAM

If I understand you correctly you are asking if you can power a module from the M32.

I think the answer to this is no and would recommend not trying as would fear damaging both the M32 and the other module.

Re: Recommendation for Feedback

Totally agree it would be amazing to have CV control over more of the Res EQ, but think the reason the It works so well for feedback is because the filter frequencies are not multiples of each other like in the AJH Fixed Filter bank. It’s better if you manually setup the feedback path though so you ...

Re: Morphagene+Beads or Arbhar+Beads?

Interesting, perhaps it’s just differences in expectations/ taste, etc. but one of my favorite things to run through Arbhar is my DFAM with grains triggered using the DFAMs trigger out. I mess with grain length and other setting manually to make glitchy weird shit and love what comes out, which (to ...
