Re: Buchla Small Shaft Potentiometer
Has anyone figured out which knob was used on the 258/291 on the 1/8" RV6 pots?

Re: d50 / m1 flute sound
The M1 is entirely sample-based and the D50 contains numerous samples of the attacks of acoustic instruments (some looped) to layer upon the traditional waveform synthesis section.

Re: Sound design/foley: Opening sequence of "Alien." Analysis?
It sounded like they took the audio of the bits after clear speech and just used the ambience of the "uh" "ah" "oh" and transitional bits between easily-recognizable vowels, fricatives, and plosives. Like taking all the sound a guitar makes after the pick hits.

Re: Sound design/foley: Opening sequence of "Alien." Analysis?
Alien has =fantastic= sound design, stellar stuff. The particular sound you mention is one of my favorite bits from the film. Sounds like clips of a radio/walkietalkie cut and sequenced so it was vocal-sounding but didn't have any easily-recognizable source or language. I believe Front 242 sampled i...

It's beautiful and has some great features. With that price tag they're definitely shooting for a niche market. Would love to see a mini MaxiKorg.

Re: Yocto V1 HH/Cymb help please
Thank you both. This build was viciously impacted by a bad 4011 in the Accent section and my lack of knowledge if the Accent section isn't working, nothing else will...now I know and apparently others have encountered 4011 issues. I'll definitely check the Accent to the HH and Cymb. The BOB build pa...

Yocto V1 HH/Cymb help please
Edit: pulled U3, socketed it, swapped it, no difference. This build is working except for weak-sounding HH and Cymbs...unsure where to focus, at the signal path or the triggers. The hex trigger IC outputs a positive-going 4.5V square on every output. I have read at least one person experienced a fau...

Nice sophistry there. Nice avoidance of the "you don't have to fuck people over to survive" bottom line, of the ETHIC. FFS 93 pages of exactly this bullshit. I lament the human race's potential to possibly overcome its predatory phase.

Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.
Why is "don't fuck people over" so very difficult. And how the hell do we get to the place where it's the standard. 93 pages of disagreement regarding "Don't fuck people over".

Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.
If you're doing things to build and to contribute and to help, you're part of a community. If you're taking and making life harder for others in a community, you're part of the community but are harming it versus building it. Why is this so hard? I want to infinitely face-palm.

Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.
Seems to be a parallel regarding B and covid threads...there is a percentage of people who will take the ethical position to protect the community, a percentage who will never ever care about the community and must loudly chime in to be seen, and a smaller percentage on the fence who might shift giv...

Re: Oscillator beside 208
The 259 is close to the 208 but of course has more features. The 258 came in three common flavors, the A, B, and C versions. The C version is the most stable and is thus the closest of them to the 208. It is also by far the most commonly cloned so if you see "Buchla 258" it's likely based off of the...

I believe the minipot on the lower left of some vintage modules acted as a fine-tuning trimmer for the left CV input but I can't find any schematics reflecting this.

Ginko, I love those panels!
I've done a new layout of the Buchla 410 discrete AR into the 280 module format, not big but worth presenting. FPE panel and home-etch PCB art will be posted.
