Re: Looking for a builder? Post here!
not a synth, but i just picked up a cheap wurlitzer 203 and the amp needs servicing. probably replacing a few caps and resoldering some wires. if anyone is available in the southeast, hit me up.

i'm not sure exactly what kind of nut it is. you could probably take it to your local fastenal and have them find some replacements.

quote]so wait, she's a "decent" piano player ... and you want to get her a tinkertoy like a monotribe to test her interest in synths? this is a horrible approach in my opinion. she's going to compare a "real instrument" (the piano) to some little squeaky box ... my guess is she won't take it seriou...

Re: Modular for the visually impaired
i don't really have an answer, but i just wanted to chime in and say that after owning an odyssey for ~4 years i could close my eyes and be just as agile on it as with eyes open. should be the same for any static synth. if you're set on modular i would buy something that's a complete system. constan...

Re: What’s the difference between Bon Iver and Oneohtrix Point Never?
i thought this was going to be a joke.
i'm not a huge fan of opn but i'm aware of what he sounds like and i have no idea how the two are related at all.
also bon iver sucks.

i think it sounds fantastic. right up my alley. great little addition to an analog poly like a Juno. would order one right now if it weren't for the financial setbacks due to c-19

Seems a bit silly if they don't do another run considering it basically sold out the day it was announced.

this isn't modular-specific, but i'm planning on converting a sprinter van or a school bus into a mobile home of sorts and living on the road for a year or two and a big part of what i'm planning in the build is a simple studio/live setup. 2-3 synths, drum machine, vocals. i'll definitely do some re...

yeah, what "DIY" spirit involves hundreds of machined parts designed by corporate entities, using limited-use tape created from chemical processes, and further requires money any time you want to record? I never knew DIY meant paying a corporation to record per-minute. If you want it as part of you...

BUT, if I recall correctly, the echophon runs on an out of date ARM chip, which doesn't have "sound" per say, other than its less powerful than the new devices.. I hate if people say "per say" .. didn't you enjoy any education? Muricans... https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/per_se 1) not all knowledge ...

so bizarre to me that make noise always demos their stuff with plonky, aimless, 6-note chiptune melodies. just like continuously passing up the opportunity to demonstrate the actual wide range of their systems. anyway this seems really dope. will be waiting on that greyscale replacement panel. i ag...

Good lord it's so ugly. It looks super cheap too with the thin plastic above the keys, kinda like a $25 midi keyboard. Plastic? It's made out of metal. Do you even Elektron? Plastic, metal, fabric, concrete whatever it is, the thinness of the bezel makes it look cheap. That was my point, not the ty...

It makes me feel old to see all the reactions that reflect a lack of awareness of the original Monomachine. Of course, the original Monomachine was a strange design choice then, and it's still a strange choice here. I would think it's a choice made to save money on development and production. Rathe...

Good lord it's so ugly. It looks super cheap too with the thin plastic above the keys, kinda like a $25 midi keyboard. Also why is elektron so resistant to putting out a Keys product with more than 37 keys. Especially on an 8-voice poly synth. It's so restrictive. You can buy a new Digitone and a ne...

Man I'd love to see XAOC put out a full system one day like Make Noise, Verbos, and Erica have. Would be so pretty. I know you can just make one yourself but there's something about a pre-built system that appeals to me. Once the VCO and these 3 modules come out you could easily have a fully playabl...

I have to say, while I think this is a worthy endeavor, and would like very much to have one, the $13,400 goal is pretty optimistic. I've seen a lot of kickstarters fail because of overly optimistic initial goals. Hope this isn't the case here! Yeah. While I'm considering backing, it's probably not...

The QPAS does not self-oscillate. If yours is doing that, there is a problem. You're right, I thought that's what I was hearing but I just checked and it doesn't actually self oscillate. The resonance just gets so pronounced and easily overtakes the signal level. I agree this has been my biggest fr...
