as far as noise levels go: get a small 5 watt amp and a good cabinet. then mic that. no need for a 50 or even a 100 watt monster. depending on your taste you can get a variety of tubes/valves. or even a tranny one if you make your sound with pedals.maybe even get two cabinets: the sound of the speak...

you def need a preamp. esp with a dynamic mic. try to get one with phantompower: you may want to upgrade to a condensor. and don't put the mic in the bell. you only get the low notes there. the high notes come out of the holes! best is to get a good engineer. you need the extra ears ... wooodwind in...

Interview W JN and who are you? just another bandwagon jumper ... never, ever compare me to jason. i don't need to be (and am not) defensive. back to playing with a pick. i use a stone pick (tha...

use of a pick vs finger bass. Use of a pick affords far less expressiveness (via dynamics) opposed to finger bass which has a slightly softer attack but far greater expressiveness. what a load of bull ... the playing is in the hand. i can play as expressive as i want with a pick! Well let's give yo...

obviously voltage isn't everything. what makes something deadly is the current that goes thru your body. esp from one hand to the other as it goes thru the heart. i've had shocks from a 7KV/800W neon psu. not very nice and to be avoided. but i survived ... now let's move on to a nicer subject ...

well, us law says that everything over 50V is lethal 50V is just the threshold for needing an Electrician’s license to work on something. It’s not really a good indicator of lethality/potential for injury. ofcourse it isn't. but that is the law in us. fact is that at about 50V your muscles start co...

I feel that the owners aren't really interested in sharing, leaves me puzzled I'll try, I been trying to get an Enigiser for 2 years now I belive its the wish of the maker that no one shares and that no one reverse engineers his machine since he still makes them and other machines on occasion. in t...

well, us law says that everything over 50V is lethal and should be taken care of my special measures. so you stay below that (phantom power is 48V for that reason alone). now, i'm sure you heard of signal to noise? there are all sorts of stray electrical currents around. and with all the cellphones ...

400 bucks is nothing. You can probably find knobs for 3 or 4 times the price over in audiophile land, with claims merely changing the knob will improve the sound. A certain sort of audiophile will fall for the most ridiculous nonsense, like Brilliant Pebbles. well, you know, i once changed a simple...

the Synclavier was "great" at the time, but much of the stuff Zappa and other's recorded with it are cursed with "that" sound. Perhaps they weren't programming it, but this is one synth that hasn't held up well over time. esp zappa made a lot of samples himself. or had some poor dude do it for him....

If you are recording you don’t want to run everything through a mixer before it gets recorded. The more things you have in your recording chain the worse its going to sound especially a cheap mixer. If you could buy a new CS-80 today it would likely cost well over $5000. Even Deckard's Dream which not a complete clone is $3750. Add a keyboard with polyphonic after touch and you will be over $5000. That is a lot more than many people can afford to pay. A true digital clone would be much less ex...
