My experience:

EMIS - v.good on advice, cheapest for Doepfer, but slow and sometimes stock issues
DV247 - No hassles, quick, but you need to know what you are after.

Like the dice idea to create patches. I used to use dice to practice guitar scales, chords and arpeggios.

I'm stoked as just ordered Doepfer A138-D Crossfader/fx Ibanez Echo Shift (ES2) Analogue delay to incorporate my guitar fx into my modular setup. Very excited about this pedal as has nice slider and knobs and seems better suited to desktop/case setup than traditional guitar fx floor setup. Only seen...

Best idea is make sure you build great modules with best parts for the best end user price.

Users want more for less. Checkout Moog, Roland and Korg for their new product strategies.

Good luck!!

After having a few hours to think about this... I would love to have a whole black faceplate setup. Physiologically, I feel closer to the sound, but can't help wondering if Doepfer would lose its brand identity amongst other black faceplates of other makers. The grey faceplate is highly recognisable...

I'm sure it's a lovely book, but not paying the rediculous amounts asked.
Profiteering at its worst, at the expense of education.

I'm sure the rights holder will get zero royalties for the copies available.

:waah:

What a shame...

I had a Korg Triton Extreme which I sold to be able to get into modular.

An excellent rompler/sampler/sequencer, in fact a complete work studio.
If I would have had the cash, I would have kept it.

Yes it all comes down to the pricing...

There are great ideas for new cases around, but without limitless pockets afraid cost is and will be an issue for most consumers.

The s&h + quantizer setup doesn't get enough credit. You can totally get controllable and repeatable sequences if you feed the s&h the right stuff. Low frequency digital oscillators with abnormal shapes are great. The e350 is amazing for this. Going into a s&h at low frequency and syncing it every ...

Get 2xA155 8 step sequencers with 1xA154 controller which would make 16 steps then you could flick switches to trigger on off beat. Not as cheaper as 2x ladik sequencers. You could just use 1x a155 sequencer, speed it up and flick the trigger switches to the second trigger line. (I think that makes ...

As Happyham says there are a lot of other makers out there worth investigating. A Moog Sub 37 is a great way to go for 'The Moog Sound' and build modular to complement the Moog sound... you can always connect modular to the Moog Sub 37 if you really want to extend the 'moog' sound, by running audio ...

That one is good as it has 3 tape speeds in addition to the pitch wheel. http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2014/09/16/how-to-use-a-tascam-portastudio-as-an-instrument/ Certainly good idea for playing 'live' and drones; then layer some sequenced stuff on top.
