Great selections here, but nobody has mentioned Tangerine Dream's Love on a Real Train yet?

Re: What makes the Metasonix F-1 and Fucking Fucker amps sound unique???

My god, you ask a lot of questions. The TX1 had a beam modulator and neon lamp in the signal path. I think the TX2 had two beam modulators, and the TX3 is a something else- I think based on remote-cuttoff pentodes. Even the product blurbs for them said, "Yes, they all sound different. No, I can't ex...

Re: What makes the Metasonix F-1 and Fucking Fucker amps sound unique???

I honestly think saying that "Eric hates guitarists" is an overstatement. He is a guitar player himself after all, as are many of his repeat customers— myself included. I think what irks him is the large number of guitarists (and let's be honest, synth users too) who are less interested in trying so...

Re: Kick module addition

For premade kicks, I have a Bastl Tea Kick which does nicely for my uses. It's a tuneable Twin-T 808-based kick which has both a Trigger In connected to an internal variable-width pulse generator, and also an Audio In (labeled "WTF In") for some weird gnarly FSU fun. Also worth keeping in mind that ...

Again, been loving these. I'm resisting the temptation to listen to this today, so I have something to listen to at work tomorrow.
Are 11-20 going to eventually be available on your Bandcamp as well?

Re: Looking for a filter that will....like Plague Bearer

Metasonix RK4? Very pingable, goes into self-oscillation easily (in fact it’s called an oscillator/filter), can get nasty when you want it to, only 8hp.

Re: Sine->mult->RM->etc.

It is not really FWR, that would have points on the lower peaks, it is half the amplitude and a DC level shift: :doh: You're right. I should have known that. Interestingly, if you multiply a bipolar triangle wave by itself you get an octave higher, but if you use a bipolar sawtooth you get the same...

Re: Best option for keeping oscillators in tune?

Everyone wants to be analog until it's time to do some analog shit. No, I kid though. A quantizer isn't going to help you here, as all that does is snap CV values to scales. Whether the oscillator plays that 1V you're sending as the same note it did a half-hour ago is an entirely different matter. K...

Re: Sine->mult->RM->etc.

Two identical sinewaves into a ringmod will result in full-wave rectification of the sine, thus result in a sound one octave higher than the original.

Re: Most aggressive and brutal distortion ever

What has the world come to... Sorry that image isn't a measurement from someone playing an instrument, it's just a simulation. I think MindMachine's reaction comes from you being overly focused on the theoretical aspects of distortion ("what's their frequency range?") while apparently having very l...

Re: Cables! Noob question

Stackables are much better than they used to be. They shouldn't be your primary cable and definitely don't go making towers out of them, but they're nice to have. And to answer OP's question, the answer is always, "Get more than you think you need." Like, a lot more. If you're clicking the Checkout ...

Not because of recording quality? :confused:

I think it is simply because of the feedback loop of the F-1.

Re: Filter Recommendations

If your power supply can handle it, Metasonix RK4. Sounds great as a moving filter, or as fixed. When used as a fixed filter and tuned properly, I've found it can seemingly add dynamics to sequenced passages. Also a great filter to ping.

Re: Supercell: expanded version of Clouds + Superparasites firmware

You don't believe that Emelie's or Tom's intent was that people should use their work and then share the results of that work? I think that is the very definition of the license they both chose. If folks don't want to inherit that intent, then they shouldn't develop products based on those works. M...

Essentially since it isn't enforceable, Grayscale isn't going to comply with the clear intent of the original IP holders. You read that wrong. Hardware designs cannot be copyrighted and CC cannot therefore be meaningfully applied to hardware. Given how Emilie ended up getting fucked over by an army...

I played a demo of the Metasonix F-1 through Audacity and then see the frequency analysis, the frequency response extend to 22050 hz and the sample rate is 44.1khz although the higher frequencies are at lower decibels but still quite high compared to the higher frequencies of a typical overdrive pe...

Re: What makes the Metasonix F-1 and Fucking Fucker amps sound unique???

I don't think most people know the frequency response of their favorite distortion boxes. And if the high-pitched noises were around 20-40kHz, you wouldn't be able to hear them since the upper limit of human hearing is 20kHz, and most adults can't even hear that high. (Yes, there has been some studi...

I used to have a ZVex RingTone which was a huge part of my sound for a while. I'd still have it but I was desperate for cash at one point and that was the most valuable thing I could sell quickly. I've been meaning to get another one, but now I have a proper ringmod plus a sequencer inside my Eurora...
