Re: Starter Setup ?

Its my impression that the 0-Coast is very much for the more weird side of modular ? I have not seen much in the way of it being used to make normal "bread and butter" sounds, but I assume it can do this ? Don't buy into the "east coast vs west coast sound" hype; weird is what you make it. If you'r...

Re: Your favorite iOS synths.

I really liked CurtisHeavy UNTIL THE DEVELOPER MADE AN UPDATE WHICH REPLACED IT WITH A DEMO VERSION OF THEIR NEW PROGRAM "MEGACURTIS".

That was probably eight years ago at this point. CurtisHeavy was only $7.99 but I still have a bad taste in my mouth from it.

You again? I've seen you posting around here every year or so. Every time, you ask how to have fun and/or make complex patches with a very unbalanced setup that has a slight difference from the previous iteration. (I noticed that this time you got rid of that drum module.) Every time , people say to...

Zerosum Inertia 5823 Noise Sorcerer Its sound goes from a shrieking demon made of plasma hurtling through the stratosphere, to a chorus of shrieking demons made of plasma hurtling through the stratosphere. I've also run audio through it, attenuated and filtered the output, and ended up with a surpri...

Re: Passive possibilities?

Off the top of my head, here's what you can get from passive modules: Ring Modulation Low-Pass Gates Logic (though no N- functions since those would require voltage output when receiving nothing) Passive filtering/EQ Attenuators Whatever the hell the Razmasynth Super Warp Generator is There was some...

Re: Audio CV vs MIDI

Why not keep both? I wouldn't consider CV a replacement for MIDI, nor would I necessarily consider it more "fun". IMO the ideal way to go would be to control notes on your synths with MIDI when possible (unless you're doing something really clever), thus freeing up those DC-coupled audio-outs for mo...

Re: Building my first rack, analog boi

I’m looking for distortion (plasma drive sounds nice but is a bit much and pricey), and creative filtering(the xaoc dual filter sounds and distorts great to my ears) first. Have you considered our Lord and Savior, Metasonix? It’s not much cheaper than the Plasma Drive, but the RK3 is an amazing dis...

Re: How should i connect the modules?

I get that this is for processing guitar— I use mine for processing guitar too sometimes— but I need to ask what you plan to do with this collection of modules (that you already bought??) Why do you want the Rainmaker and the Magneto in your system, given that there’d a good deal of overlap in their...

Re: Noob Help Moog Model D & EHX Little Big Muff

You probably want the low-gain output since you'll be plugging it into an effects pedal before your interface.
Can you post a sample somewhere of the sound (or lack thereof) that you're getting?

Re: Noob Help Moog Model D & EHX Little Big Muff

My first question is why/how you're plugging in via XLR cables, since the Minimoog and LBMπ's inputs and outputs are 1/4" TS jack. Probably worth mentioning that the LBMπ is probably used to handling guitar-level signals so depending on what you have the Minimoog's output set to you may be sending a...

Re: The modules that should exist (but don't)

If a mix of bit-reduction and wavefolding is what you're looking for, the WMD Geiger Counter is literally that. :cloud: I'm not sure it can be considered as a wavefolder, it's more of a wavetable and a bit reducer. No? I could be wrong, but my understanding of how the Geiger Counter works is that t...

Re: The modules that should exist (but don't)

I recently loaded a sampler with signed waveforms but it was expecting unsigned. The result was kinda an odd distortion that was a mix of bit reduction and wavefolding. I kinda wish there was an "encoding error" module. Not sure if I am just being stupid about this one TBH. If a mix of bit-reductio...

Re: Starter Setup ?

Do I still have enough for a decent "beginner" set up or are there more modules I should purchase to get started? I was thinking about a LFO or a mixer, as those have been recommended in the beginner videos I've been watching. In the future please start a new thread to avoid hijacking an existing a...

Re: Starter Setup ?

For that budget a more sensible way to start would be a semi modular like a 0-Coast or a Mother 32 depending on what type of synthesis you're more interested in. You'll get a functionning system, with a lot more functionnalities than what you could afford with that budget. And then you can expand. ...

You're probably better off looking for a DC-coupled interface for your computer than a module for this.

Re: What's your favorite passive module?

I vaguely remember it was fairly small (6HP or less). I can't find anything like that on ModularGrid now though. https://www.modulargrid.net/e/razmasynth-super-warp-generator I found this, but I'm guessing it's not what you were talking about. Less of a bass synth and more of a weird sound generator.
