Re: Oberheim OB-X by Sequential rumor

Indeed. While a straight up reissue would be sweet I’d love if they gave it some updates. Switchable filters between SEM and CEM would be sweet. Who am I kidding, what I want is an OB6 with juicier oscillators, at least 8 voices, 61 keys and a second LFO. Put that in an OBX chassis for presence and ...

Re: Korg 2600 Mini

Clearly there is a vast difference in price between the Korg and Behringer models. When you get down to materials and R&D I’m not sure the Korg warrants the premium. But I don’t think of it that way. It just is what it is. I don’t particularly like the look of the Behringer model. I find the Korg pa...

Re: KORG miniKORG 700FS

This is a really attractive package with tasteful updates. Not for me thankfully. I hope that if they’re releasing this that they may also consider the Maxi Korg. That I would pull the trigger on. Such a fantastic sounding synth. I honestly didn’t think they were going to release any more Korg re-is...

Re: Oberheim OB-X by Sequential rumor

I wouldn’t be surprised. Tom is getting up there and has been promising but not delivering on new gear. The relationship is there. Tom has also historically licensed his name. So it wouldn’t be outlandish. I’m dreaming of a future where I have Prophet 10 and an OBX desktop modules being controlled w...

Yeah I was going to suggest Hydrasynth as well. LFOS can be used as basic sequencers for anything at whatever speed you desire. Also accepts CV as modulation.

Re: Moog Matriarch Announced

I like both. I was never one who hated the colors. I think they’re fun. The black does look really slick and LBD is really selling the look with all the Moog euro stacked behind them. I would totally grip her setup. I always thought it would be fun to do limited runs of the synths totally in one col...

Re: Arturia PolyMatrix / PolyBrute coming?

Ok....so foot in mouth....after listening to all the demos I take it all back. This synth is awesome and sounds great. Haha. Oh boy. I still wish it had more than 6 voices and after having Hydrasynth I wish everything had Poly AT. But aside from that I dig it. Not sure if I’d buy it. But I dig it.

Re: Arturia PolyMatrix / PolyBrute coming?

It actually looks like a fun, interactive synth. That morph feature is neat, and the “Morphée” (Touché) controller is an interesting addition. Like the very subtle ribbon. Still there’s something about the sound of Arturia stuff that has held me back from purchasing. After watching reviews I’m not l...

Re: Arturia PolyMatrix / PolyBrute coming?

Glad to see we are getting closer to a reveal. I like the integrated ribbon into the wood above the keyboard...thats slick, and definitely interested in knowing what's going on in the cheek panel. I wonder if they licensed the Touche design or if they built something similar, or different? I hope th...

I’m hoping it’s a full sized/featured poly version of the Pro3. I’ve been wanting a Dave Smith synth for a bit but nothing has really hit the right spot for me to pull the trigger.

Laugh it up haha. I deserve it! So dumb. Aaaaaand changing my location for the future.

It’s fine, it was more of an itchy wallet impulse buy anyway and I don’t really need either, especially not in a global pandemic with no job. So whoever did end up with it saved me some cash haha

Prophet 08 / Alesis Ion (Opinion Poll)

Hey guys. I’m considering purchasing either an Alesis Ion or a Prophet 08. I really like them both. Obviously there are differences. The Ion is $400 and the Prophet is $600. I have a Hydrasynth. There’s things I like and dislike about both synths. I find them each interesting and worthy instruments ...

Re: Polysynth with oberheim filter?

If you’re not tied to having a keyboard maybe check out MFB’s Synth Pro. It’s a real steal for under $1000. Knobby desktop unit. Doesn’t have an “Oberheim” filter but it has a dual filter setup, one of which is a state variable like an Oberheim. Listen to demos, it’s definitely creamy to my ears, wo...

Re: Moog Mother 32/Subharmonican/DFAM, as the center pieces of a Eurorack?

FWIW Lisa Bella Donna has done a few sets recently (which can be found on YouTube) where she used her gigantic Moog system which consists only of DFAMs and M32s with a Matriarch on keys. Sounds pretty dope to me and there’s no lack of movement or complexity. Very layered and musical.

Re: New poly synth/synth company - ASM Hydrasynth

To elaborate...if you bend the pitch wheel all the way to either the top or the bottom, when you start to release it back to the center there are dead zones at each end before any change in pitch occurs, about a 1/4 inch on the bottom and maybe a little less on top.

Re: New poly synth/synth company - ASM Hydrasynth

For me the only issue I’ve had is that that Pitch Bend wheel has dead zones on the top and bottom of its travel. I emailed ASM and they told me it’s not a bug, not a software thing, but a hardware decision. Not sure why they’d choose a wheel that you can only use a fraction of. It doesn’t really aff...

Re: Dave Smith hint of a new synth coming up in August

What he really needs to do is allow the user to decide how many voices they want to use when it comes to splits. If I’m using just one voice for a bass I should be able to play with 7/15 voices as I see fit. That’s one thing I love about the Moog One. Otherwise it’s such a waste of all that
Polyphony.

I don’t think there’s a market need for every new but not new guitar that comes out every year but so they come. Looking at Dave’s pro line up you have MONO Pro 3 /SE POLY Rev2 8v KB/Module Rev2 16v KB/Module P6 KB/Module OB6 KB/Module PX / XL Prophet 12 Module Tempest Most notably they’re missing M...

Re: Dave Smith hint of a new synth coming up in August

I’m thinking (and hoping) the logical next step would be a Poly version of the Pro 3, maybe a Pro 16? Rev2 style with splits and layers. Nothing much crazier than that. Would be a convenient way to update the P6/OB6 platform and add something new to the lineup. Seems like a no brainer to me.
