Re: 5U module that sends out just a consistent "on" 5v signal
Easy way that doesn't eat module space. Add a toggle switch and jack to a panel that has wasted space on it. (A lot of 1MU modules have this.) Tie the 5 volt from the header to the common of the switch. Tie the switched leg to the 1/4" jack. I've even added lamps to illuminate the state of the switc...

Re: Isolation box for guitar amplifier
I've put amps in clothes closets in the past. The mics are in front of the speaker and not affected by all the clothes absorbing some of the sound energy. Was quiet enough to keep the cops at bay. I just have some small tube amps and a versatile transistor amp i use now. Still have my big amps for l...

Re: Isolation box for guitar amplifier
I'd wire in a speaker jack and build an isolation cabinet with a speaker of choice and correct impedance in it. Use a switching jack so when the external box is plugged in the internal speaker is cut out.

Anderton discussed this in depth back in the late 70's when he built his Hex Fuzz. If you can find the articles.

Re: STG Time Modules
I long ago added 1/4" jacks for clock and run inputs. Also added a toggle to run/stop with an incandescent lamp to indicate state. I have a fairly large STG sequencer suite that i love. Toggle switches and all. 2 SM, 2 TMS, 4 VMS & TB. Time division is done with Moon. It was what was available at th...

Hang out with my brother. Same thing. Started Saturday for him.
I'll take my arthritis over that shit anyday! As my brother says, "This too, shall pass. Painfully."
We'll still be here when you get back. Take care.

He was the Guru for the Synthesizers.com Yahoo group. Extremely talented and even more arrogant. You could learn a ton from him. He finally got pissed off and left. Don't know whatever happened to him. Haven't heard a thing. Roger at Synthesizers.com would probably know. Go read through the thousand...

Re: Fender Jazzmaster - Avice for first time buyer
I went through this, only with Jaguars. It only took a few months playing various units at different shops until "The One" fell into my lap. If you get one that just hits at the moment, buy it. Don't worry about what it is. What works for someone else probably isn't going to work for you. (I can't p...

Yes. Please share what you had to replace? With enough detail to be useful to the stated goal of the thread, if you can. Volume pot on Sy33. PITA Keycontacts on multitude of synths. Some easy, some not so much. Tanatalum caps in divide down synth. (over 100) Dozens of pots on various pieces of kit....

I run a pair of Otari MX-5050's. I can make them work. I've never been able to make music with a computer.
One thing you can't get with digital is that smooth fidelity loss when bouncing tracks. In moderation it is magic. Just listen to TD Rubycon.

Re: Cleaning smoky gear :(
I am in the process of cleaning and restoring a Collins tube transceiver. Decades of smoke and dirt. I removed the tubes, removed the meter and the washed it with warm soapy water and rinsed with warm de-ionized water. Blew it off a bit with a blow dryer and then put it in the oven at 150f for a few...

Re: What is a piece of gear that you will never part with?
I've sold my Fizmo, Minimoog, T8, a pair of 2600's and FR Revolution.
I won't sell, and have had them since the 70's, my Hammond A100 tonewheel organ, Princeton Reverb or my Gibson Epiphone Accubass4.
Many, many (many) guitars, basses, synth and amps have cycled through. These I keep.

Re: Ahhh... P Bass or J Bass.
Or try a Franken Bass. I ended up taking a Gibson Accu-bass 4 and putting a vintage P-bass pick up at the neck and routing in a Bartolini J-Bass on the bridge. No tone control. Two volumes and a phasing switch. Switching between Smith RW medium lights and GHS Brite-Flats I can get the tones "I" want...

Re: What Amp / Monitors do you use in your home for Synth?
I have some powered monitors I use when recording. (Stating which ones is like an oil thread on a car forum) For making neighbor annoying sounds I use a pair of Peavey Combo 300 amps with a pair of horns on top.

Re: Create a lightning strike in 5u?
Try the "Frying Bacon" patch and play with cutoff and tracking. By cutting (attenuating) the CV level sent to different sources from the same CV many interesting variations can be made. (think keyboard tracking amount.)
