Re: Robotmakers: Barrelhouse Shakedown (Seriously fun)
Sincere thanks for all the kind words! The original recording of this tune had gotten stuck in my head, endlessly repeating for weeks on end whenever I went for a COVID-era mandated exercise/walk. I did try to record a modular synth-only verse, basically for you guys, but I really didn’t like the wa...

Robotmakers: Barrelhouse Shakedown (Seriously fun)
Modest modular synth content, but seriously fun nonetheless. A Robotmakers arrangement of the Keith Emerson boogie-woogie classic from 1977. Played using the new Roland A-88 mkII controller and a variety of NI VSTs. Actual hardware Modular Moog makes appearances at 1:00, 1:15 and 1:53. Effect at 1:5...

Re: SSL - MU Tsunami Poly Sample Player
While we’re peppering Doug with questions, I have one. What would you see as the most interesting applications of such a module? A super drum machine? A polyphonic synth? General sequenced triggering of whatever? To my eyes, the cost seems reasonable given the power, but is the demand for such a thi...

Re: Polyphonic 5u Systems!
Encore Expressionist is a fine poly MIDI-CV converter. I use two. Here’s a golden oldie. Four voice, Moog and other modular. Wow, super track Robotmakers! +1 for the Encore Expressionist (although to be fair I’ve never used a Kenton so couldn’t compare them) Thanks very much! That one was played li...

Re: Robotmakers - These Moths Will Drink the Tears of Sleeping Birds
Thanks so much for the kind encouragement! I feel we all in this community are making progress in our compositions, and striving for the best in our own ways is always fulfilling. It’s great when we can share our work and hear that it’s appreciated. Someone mentioned the vocals. My (weak) voice was ...

Robotmakers - These Moths Will Drink the Tears of Sleeping Birds
A prog rock fever dream that is one of our best. Play it loud and please enjoy. Modular Moog melodies in a vintage throwback idiom. I really hope you like it as it took some time to write out the music and then learn to play it!
Cheers,
Roger

New Robotmakers Video - Within
Hello All, To commemorate the quarantine, we have a new Robotmakers video which features some modular Moog, among other things. The main keyboard part is actually a Kontakt instrument I made to mimic a Yamaha GX-1. I give it away on the Music Software section of Muffs. Also interesting is a computer...

Re: MOTM - Module Delineation (lines?) & Output Marking (nuts/washers?)
Not a fan of the typically careless MOTM user interface, so used colored washers to delineate what I considered to be control inputs. Here’s a crop from an old picture where you might be able to make out the blue plastic washers in some spots. Obviously just a matter of personal preference. Best reg...

I've also have added a small modification to each which means I can compensate for any 'scale' drift, from the front panel - which I have to do a few times during a live set. I get 5 octaves in tune no problem if I keep on top of it.... 8-) This is the key - it's the scaling of the 901A's that is t...

Looks reasonable to me but I'm no expert in circuit design. My only concern would be that the final output circuit might distort with 100% dry and 100% wet at the same time? :hmm: Might sound good if it does distort though! :hihi: Thanks - this all makes sense. Will report back when procrastination...

I thought I'd seen the instructions for performing the mod to get the "Emerson mode" somewhere on Muff's, but I can't find it. The standard 905 does a sort of cross-fade as you turn the knob, starting at full dry, moving to a mix of dry and wet signal, and finally to full wet with the knob fully clo...

These are good ideas. A few years back I put some Moog modules along with a few Moon switching and distribution modules into two portable cabinets (built by EMWhite). I used two DB25 cables to send CV and gate signals, respectively, from cabinet to the other. It being a Moog-centric build, I used Ci...

Happy New Year and a new Robotmakers tune
Happy New Year to all. Here’s a new Robotmakers tune for 2019 inspired by the discovery of a supergiant runaway star and some space imagery from NASA and elsewhere. Hope you like it even though it’s not all modular and there are no sequencers. Cheers, Roger

I lived all of this MOTM mayhem from the start and was one of the initial customers. As a result, I have some insight into this. I don't usually comment on the practices of other manufacturer's but I believe that Paul Schreiber has been unfairly characterized in this thread for abandoning the manufa...

IMHO, the demise of MOTM is a function of a series of bad business decisions by Synthtech. It was an act of hubris to create an idiosyncratic 5U panel format and refuse early cooperation with synthesizers.com. A focus on the small DIY market didn't help long term prospects. Imagine a world where MOT...

Is the 543CP already out? This teaser implies the dedicated audio mixer design by showing VU meters. The 543CP can be DC coupled for cv use and is voltage controlled. Since Moon already have a smaller single space attenuator/mixer, I would guess this to be full size (not CP) with panning but no vol...
