Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer
Anyone have some effect/pedal recommendations for the lyra (I currently have no pedals, sold my last one a while ago when deep in modular :))? I was thinking it might be nice with some filtering or eq and some reverb, so I was thinking about a multi effects pedal like the poly digit/bebo or somethi...

Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer
How hot is the output on this? Can I plug it directly into a pedal without any problems? And would the headphone output drive 300ohm headphones? Yes, you should be able to plug it directly into a pedal. I often use mine with a Moogerfooger 12 Stage Phaser pedal, and have also used it with a Zoom mu...

Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer
Here is another experiment integrating the Lyra-8 with some Frac Rack modules (Wiard and Blacet) controlled by my brainwaves. I'm using a SoundMachines b1Braininterface to do this. I'm controlling two voices on the modular, one with Theta waves and one with Alpha waves. I'm controlling the Hold on t...

Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer
I bought my Lyra-8 because of its uniqueness, both its sound and its interface. I agree 100%, it is indeed an instrument. At first I played around with it a bit and then put it aside for awhile. Recently I've begun to play it again both as a solo instrument and integrated with other instruments in m...

Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer
I've had a Lyra-8 for a while now, but have been playing it a bit more recently. It is a very interesting synth that is a little out of my normal comfort zone but working with it recently has given me a new appreciation of it as a performance instrument. I've been doing some videos of Lyra-8 sketche...

Re: Behringer System 55
Scored a B914 and B960 from Thomann's over the Atlantic today:-). First impressions of 960; 3rd row timing control is approx 1:8 @ x4. There is a slight glitch in Vout. Seems very good! B914 is a serviceable EQ. Not immediately resonant in any way. Work to do. Should find my old resonant graphic EQ...

Re: Behringer System 55
Moog made a 928 module that has one section devoted to glide and another devoted to sample and hold. I didn't know that, I'll have to look up the 928. I know they made a desktop device that was meant as an add-on to the Minimoog, that was a sample and hold, but I wasn't aware of a system module. Th...

Re: Behringer System 55
How's the MF104 working for you @mfirman? I have a bunch rack mounted down in the studio. They're too far apart to try lol! I didn't think I would want a 960. But the 3rd row timing and a lag generator, like the CP-251, or a Doepfer slew limiter, makes a fantastic function generator. And several de...

Re: Buchla Thunder in 2020
Beautiful recording - did not realize this was such an expressive stand alone instrument. How many voices are within the lightning and are they presets in memory or triggered off board? It has no internal voices. It is strictly a MIDI controller. The sound in this recording was provided by the Yama...

Re: Buchla Thunder in 2020
very nice performance! now i'm curious, what's the vinyl record standing in the lower bookshelf with the circle on it? It's a 1980 recording by Katsuya Yokoyama (and some of his students) called SanGai Rinten. I have it on CD, but when my shakuhachi teacher (and friend) passed away his wife gave me...

Buchla Thunder in 2020
Just thought that I would check in here to see if there are any other Thunder users who still
compose/perform for the instrument.
Here is a video of a piece I wrote for it in 1994 and shot in 2020.

Re: soundcloud links?
As Lisa above so kindly pointed out, I have a lot of material on SoundCloud that features the Wiard 300 System. Here is an album/playlist that has some relatively recent material done on the Wiard (However, there are many more tracks, done over the years, scattered about my SoundCloud page that also...

I agree with the original poster. I have a two-up QKB37 setup and love it. I have a set of wheels (CV) that interface well with the Q174/Q175 Midi to CV converter pair. The action is exactly like my Voyager's (not surprising since they are basically the same keyboard). https://www.muffwiggler.com/fo...

Sadly they don't have them at the moment (out of stock).trickness wrote: Try Craig at Calistro Music in CT. Just got one from him, the experience was way better than BCM.
But I will check with them just before I do the purchase.
