Re: Buchla format clone panels

Do you sell 291 pcbs through your site, or is it only the panels? Cheers!

Good to know the cvgt fits in the 4ms pods, was wondering if there would be clearance issues.

Very underrated synth, massive sound. One of the few things I really regret selling.

Thonk has the main board pcbs and they also sell the barcode version with the jack board and front panel, but they are currently closed.

Re: Testing vactrols

Thanks for the replies, plenty of stuff to get stuck in with! Nice to have a method of actually testing them for response times, but the pin header method is brilliant too, as testing with my ears will let me know exactly what I want. Always loved my Bugbrand LPG too, so glad to know that method is ...

Re: Testing vactrols

Thanks for the reply. It'll be in a Buchla 292c, so wanted them to have similar response times, but also have the desired ring to it. Think I'm a bit worried regarding what I've read about the decay of the xvive vactrols, I've used them to fine effect in crossfaders etc, but not built any lpgs yet.

Testing vactrols

I've got some projects coming up that require matched vactrols and was wondering if anyone can provide some step by step info as to how to test them? I'll be testing VTL5c/3 and VTL5c3/2 Have tried searching here and the net in general and can't seem to find much info. Found a lot of info on the poo...

Re: Fonik PS3100 issue

Resoldered wired connections today just to make sure, but still having the same issue. Seems strange that there's no audio coming from the first resonator at all, so any ideas would be welcome!

Re: Fonik PS3100 issue

No, it's a J111 used instead of a BF245, so needs to be flipped backwards for correct pinout.

Fonik PS3100 issue

Just built this and having an issue with channel 1 not passing audio at all. Everything else works on the module, LED on channel 1 corresponds with change of filter frequency and lfo rate, works fine with external cv, but no audio coming through at all. Have played with trimmer settings, but not pas...

Re: What upgrades for a regular new guitar?

Don't know if they still do, but some Epiphones used to come with Grover tuners, which are a pretty solid choice. Definitely recommend graphite in the nut as others have mentioned and perhaps if you do put heavier strings on you'll find once properly stretched and bedded in that the tuning should be...

Re: Behringer System 55

Is anyone making a fixed filter bank using inductors? In any format?
This isn't a loaded question (not touching the Behringer discussion with a barge pole), just general interest.

Apologies for late reply! May have to drop Tim a line if I can't figure it out from the more simple tests. Will have to build a bench PSU going forward, major lesson learned from this debacle! No noticeable short circuits on the M12, worked fine for ages before I plugged the Turing Machine in with t...

Broken Plan B M12 + M14

Following on from my 'I broke my turing machine' thread, I'm now looking to fix the Plan B M12 + M14 that got damaged in the process. Turing machine error was due to having a TL074 and DAC plugged in the wrong way and it seemed it must have shot something across the power rails and messed with the t...

Yeah, they're still acting strange - lucky that all of my other modules survived. Both of these modules weren't on the same row as the Turing Machine when I plugged it in either. The M12 doesn't work at all, just has a loud hum at the output and still cuts everything else out when a jack is inserted...

Here you go, board looks a bit of a state due to reflowing everything. I know the electro caps look suspect, but as far as I can tell, they don't touch anything when assembled. Can't see any shorts myself, but am most likely missing something! No reverse power either, I'm super careful every time I ...

Dead turing machine

A thread that was bound to happen at some point - my first DIY module that doesn't work. Sadly it took 2 other modules with it, but that's my fault for plugging a newly built module into a case full of stuff  . Lesson learned. It powers on with leds for about 1 second then shuts off. Interestin...

Perfect, thank you very much!

Figured as much with the power header, but all of the pins were seperated on my production modules so just didn't want to do anything stupid on my first DIY build (although I'm sure there will be plenty more room for that 8-) )

Couple of Toppobrillo 281 questions

Just finished the pcb for this and about to start wiring but have a couple of questions. The power header on the board seems to have the traces linked together for the two rows, whilst I know to avoid bridges at all costs, there seems to be nothing I could do about this as the solder just flows betw...

Cap tolerances for ceramic + film

Getting ready for my first builds and have been reading a lot on here about capacitors (so much useful info!) but the one thing I'm a bit stumped on is general tolerance. Have read about polystyrene, c0g and mica caps being the best for vcos, vcfs, s&h etc, but not sure about general acceptable tole...
