Re: Multi-channel / frequency Envelope Follower?

Probably the cheapest option would be something like the MN FxDx fixed filter bank with the some cheap slew limiters.

Re: ER-101: Indexed Quad Sequencer

Is anyone else having issues with the programmer? I have been able to use my programmer since updating to a modern Mac OS. Without the 102, it's impossible to import/export sequences any other way. Attempting to open in Catalina, it tells me that "the develops needs to update this application" or so...

Re: Looking for a sampler

What about a sampler in euro? My ONE is here and I really like it. In principle, not a bad idea. In practice, I don't have a eurorack case. I just have a bunch of semimodulars, so there's no particular benefit to getting a euro solution. Euro-standard, sure. Eurorack modules? Don't really help me. ...

Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"

There’s a wide difference between criticizing someone’s latest effort, or output in general and disparaging an entire style of music because it is not to your taste. Something that I don’t believe has been mentioned on this thread: the modular synth is an instrument, not a genre. Flamenco guitar an...

Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"

There are some fantastic posts on this thread from people of all points of view, it seems to have pulled out of its nosedive into the abyss at least. I continue to be astonished though, that highly intelligent (not sarcasm) members of this forum either don't understand/cannot or won't acknowledge t...

Re: What new booty did you buy?

Grabbed a Pro 2 for the criminally low price of $950 (no taxes or shipping since it was purchased and picked up locally in my new home state of New Hampshire). It's such an amazing machine, I've already made 15 patches for it and three tracks. It's funny because, for a really long time, I was super ...

Re: Help Me Get Into Modular or Talk Me out of It

I feel like if you need talking into it, you shouldn't get into it. Just grab VCV. I tried my first modular (the prototype Buchla SF Tape Music Center modular at Mills) in grad school and tried unsuccessfully for several years to get that sound I had in max patches and basically pining after a modul...

Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"

I am saying that I don't think that what many of these people are doing is musical art. I am not saying it can't be viewed that way. I saying that is not the point of it. It seems fairly apparent, if you view it critically, without being overly sensitive and personal about it, that what many of the...

.. the MFB (who I normally like, but this synth sounds thin and boring in any videos I've seen). Sounds allright to me. https://youtu.be/4oPS5pEF1Hg Yeah... not feeling it. My Pro-2 sounds better as an analog poly compared to this. I am not hating on MFB, the dominion sound amazing. This isn't doin...

...Do you hear that glorious detuning that occurs during the slide?!? I don't think that any modern synth does this... Not for nuthin but...a Juno-106 can do this - with DCOs no less. ;) But yes, what a magnificent effect. Some of my favorite keyboard solos of all time are the ones where Roger Powe...

Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"

When people talk about cheapening music it is often, but not always a "kids these days" discussion. However, I am 30 years old. Roughly the same age as many people in these videos (maybe a bit older). I have until very recently been subjected to the obnoxious brow beating of people older than myself...

Umm, i'm on the same side of this as you, coolshirtdotjpg. The SJW was the one who wasn't there worrying you were 'cliff diving' while 'inventing' false history. I knew you weren't. Sorry bud, I probably skipped over whoever said that, I tend to do that a lot when things get "political" here. My bad!

Do you mean oberheim or SEM? If you just want something oberheim, the Matrix 6/6R/1000 is a great option. Sounds great, wish the programming was a bit easier.

While we're totally off topic, one of the reasons Buchla synths were originally appealing precisely because they were cheaper than moog, and you could probably trade drugs for them. Yea. Hell ... Why not! I mean, let's go ahead right off the cliff and just let our imaginations create history....

it was $225 from Kraft Music with coupon, but they had to shut down. I just don't get why it lacks the CV/Gate as basic? as well as other ins/outs. I want one, but midi only, nope. why stray from all their other clones? Sounds like all the digital elements make CV IO difficult. Still, trigger ins a...

still my favorite thread atm. projection, externalization, distortion but mostly just defensiveness. Who cares what other people like or do? I don’t like most of the music I hear, in general, but unless it is forced upon me, like out in public, etc, it doesn’t affect me in any way. I certainly don’t go seeking out music on YouTube that I already know doesn’t appeal to me. Nobody is holding a gun t...
