Re: Bastl Noise squared mods?

Replying to my own question: There is actually a 5-pin breakout on the back board that is intended for reprogramming the firmware - and I found a GitHub repository for this project. Unfortualtely, I am not a programmer, but it's possible that someone smarter than me can do something with it. Probabl...

Re: Noob question about Low Pass Gates

I am not sure you should be too concerned about the MakeNoise stories - vactrols vary, but I doubt if they make that much difference that a MN LPG would be totally unusable. I have an Optimix and the dual LPG combo, and they both seem fine. You don't have to have a LPG. I didn't have any for years. ...

Re: eurorack cardboard boxes suggestions

Ok, that's clearer!

When I receive a module from a retailer or direct from a manufacturer, it's nearly always double-boxed. I think I would expect it now.

One issue might be if the outer box is too big, you will need a lot of packing material.

Bastl Noise squared mods?

Maybe this should go in the DIY forum - but it will probably get wider exposure here. I have the Bastl Noise Squared, which I built from a kit. It's very useful - there isn't anything else with this variety of noise in such a small form factor (5hp). However, I'd like a bit more variety in a couple ...

Is this just to mail a used module to a eBay buyer? These days I just send them in the box they came in when I bought them.

Re: Chord oscillator for pad purposes

I have had a Music Thing Chord Organ and telHarmonic since they came out. The telHarmonic is easy to use, but I find the locked in nature of the chords limits it too much. You really are stuck with basic triads in a major scale. Probably Ok for pop or dance music, but it tends to sound like a 80s vi...

Re: Eurorack retail prices in Australia

If i was in Australia i would happily have a lot of Elby stuff and NLC and get into DIY. Secondhand modules in Australia can be priced ok. All of that. One reason why I started building my own. Yes, second hand are often good deals because of the limited market. Unfortunate if you are the vendor!

Follow up question: Does it have to be a teensy 3.1? Don't seem to be many around now. 3.2 or later.
I have a 3.2 in mine. I think the only difference between 3.1 and 3.2 is that the 3.2 have a beefed up on-board regulator so it can drive more hardware off its 3.3V regulator.
Thanks!

Are your Radio Music DIY ones? Sometimes on the factory ones the Teensy has been soldered in.
DIY.

Ok, so the front board works with the second back board.

Tried to reflash the Teensy. No sign of life. Looks like it's cooked :(

Re: [Project] Music Thing Radio Music 4hp sample player

Ok, went back and did the tests properly. I must have been tired when I did it last night. I used hooked probes to get the ground secure this time. I now get the correct +12v / -12v on the middle pins of the TL074 socket, and +5v for the Vin pin on the Teensy socket. I guess I can now safely test wi...

Re: [Project] Music Thing Radio Music 4hp sample player

When you say there is zero volts, where and how are you checking the power? I was using the build doc guide. Multimeter in Volts mode, ground near the power socket and looking for +/-12v in the middle pins of the TL074 sockket. I'll check the continuity of the fuses later when I finish work. If you...

Re: Erica Synths Black Sequencer

Is there usually a release date that you're able to look up, or do modules just sorta appear one day? I'm only just getting into modular synths so I was wondering. It seems weird to me that it keeps getting delayed and rescheduled but never has a hard date, especially if it's something with specs l...

Re: [Project] Music Thing Radio Music 4hp sample player

I seem to have just fried my second Radio Music. Was removing it from the rack while powered up so I could adjust the trimmer to reduce gain and distortion. When I put it back, I must have shorted some pins against the adjacent module's faceplate - it's dead now. I removed the Teensy and TL074 and ...

Re: Need help finding rhythmic pattern module

My current go-to module for rhythmic triggers is the ADDAC402 4 Voice Heuristic Rhythm Generator. I like it becuase it has enough different algorithms so that when you get sick of one mode, you have something different to turn to. THe range of modes goes from Euclidean through a standard step sequen...

Re: Doepfer Quad Envelope Follower - anything else?

Back to the original post. I think the doepfer quad module is very specific to the doepfer performance mixer. Doesn't mean you can't use it separately but do you really need four of them? I don't think it has threshold detection either. I would rather have something like the doepfer A119 that has ot...

Re: Is There A Linear Sequencer for Euro?

Thanks for all the replies. I should clarify. I use a DAW (Cubase) to record MIDI and audio tracks in my studio. I'm looking for a Eurorack sequencer that can record in linear fashion. (not piano roll). Nothing to do with my DAW setup. I have a MIDI controller connected to my modular via Yarns to g...
